Hi, I bought a game from 2012, when i Install it, it asks me to install this game on steam instead of GOG galaxy. How come? And do I still have the right to keep the files for the game from GOG or does it go over to steam as a license? I already have this game on steam you see and wanted it solemly for GOG DRM free, which it states on the store page but I still find it odd with wanting to install on steam. Does anybody know anything about this?

What game specifically? You bought it on GOG and not a third-party site/key reseller, correct? Try downloading the game installers instead of installing through Galaxy. I don't think there's much else I can do to help so hopefully somebody else chimes in.

Hi, i bought the game Hitman: Absolution. I linked my steam account to GOG Galaxy, so i guess the games installer on gog is through steam then? Kind of.. a dissapointment then.
Edit: Ok i closed my steam and tried installing the game on gog galaxy. And it tells me its loading steam. So defently linked then to steam.

Definitely not. I would try installing the game for myself, but as I can see it's 12GB installer.

I assume if you linked your Steam account to GOG Galaxy, you will have 2 stacked 'copies' of the game and it may have selected the Steam one by default, so you will need to change to the GOG version. Right-click on the game, at the bottom of the pop-up list you'll likely see a number 2, highlight this and choose the GOG version.
(nevermind)

It looks like you own the game on Steam as well, that is why you have to switch the versions. You are trying right now to install the Steam version. Please click on the icon to the left of overview and switch to the GOG one. =)

Try these instructions:

1. Close the Steam client.
2. Close the GOG Galaxy client.
3. Run your web browser (e.g. Chrome or Firefox, or even MS Edge).
3. Go to https://www.gog.com
4. Log into your GOG account with your email address and GOG password, with the web browser.
5. Hover your mouse over your name in the upper banner of the web page, and from the drop-down menu that should appear, click once on the "Games" link with your left mouse button.
6. In the search box, write Hitman.
7. You should see the game "Hitman: Absolution" listed there. If you want, you can download the offline backup game installers from here. Don't click on the big blue "Download and install now" link because that will just re-download the GOG Galaxy client. You must click under it for the offline installers. Then you can install the GOG version of the game with that.

If, however, you don't see the game in your GOG account, then contact the GOG support to find out what is wrong. Did you receive a receipt email from gog.com when you bought the game, and do you see the game in your order history, which can be found under the "Your Name => Privacy & settings"?

Yeah, you just have to switch integrations in Galaxy. If you linked your Steam account and had the game there and only later bought it also on GOG, the Steam integration will be selected because it was the first. You can see the icon of the currently selected integration below the Install/Play button.
