Can I share my Gog library with family and friends like you can on Steam ? Can't seem to find the option.
As in being made public?

https://www.gog.com/account/settings/privacy

Drop down option: "Your full game library can be seen by"

Would that work?
EDIT: "Your account and games are for your personal use only. If you want to share them, you can always buy a gift for that person. The DRM-free nature of our service means that we trust you that this will not be abused."

Well on Steam you share your library on up to 5 pc's, you sign into your friends computer with your Steam account and authorize that pc to have access to your Steam library through their own account.

I left Steam because of the Steam "family" sharing. It was and still and always will be near unusable for cohabiting families. Its a slap in the face for all those that argued for one.

Now, the EULA that comes with nearly all GoG games gives you the right to install on any machine you own. So in my case I can install any of my GoG library on my wife's or children's computers for them to play. There are over a dozen computers in this house.

So if by family you mean wife and children then absolutely yes you can.

If by family you mean your brother that lives 20 miles away then no.

Same for friends, no.

Except.

With Steam you are controlled by a subscription, which allows far great control over you than a Software license.

Theoretically you could uninstall all instances of a game, put the installer on USB and lend that. And as long as you don't install and play the game while they use it, and they remove all trace after wards then from a licensing point of view you are not committing a crime.

But could be breaking the terms and conditions of the GoG service.

In short its a matter of conscience

You could be like the little shites on the SFS forum sharing their games with total strangers to get free games, and be just as bad as a pirate.

Or you can support a great service and great developers.

Out of interest who did you want to lend your games to?

Smh. GOG community is supposed to say "no" to all the copyrasts/DRM heathens. That means not doing the opposite and engage in teaching users how bad it is to share and whatnot.
Sharing/piracy saves the environment and makes your fellow people happy. It's what Jesus would do. If GOG as a service is better, that is where people will go to/stay at. I was once banned from old Steam forums for saying a word condoning piracy. Censorship 101. It's bad enough with Steam and Epic Store engaging in harmful fights to become monopolists. Very sad.

People who play online together will learn to buy separate copies anyway.

If it was for pirates and poor people to choose, we would have everything in open source. But we live in a world where everyone wants to abuse the copyright system and become a copyrast.

Just making clear that those conditions are not mutually exclusive, and there are use cases of an easier way to share your library with others:
I share my GOG library with my little brother (by giving him my e-mail and password), and he lives more than 900 miles away - I do legally own his computer. It is just not practical having to switch between accounts on GOG Galaxy to download other games. This small little problem makes the choice of picking a store to buy a game really hard: I can actually own my games by picking GOG - and then having to host 70GiB/game somewhere else to share - or I can be stuck at a DRM platform but with easier ways to share my games.

GOG is awesome, but there is a lot of room to improve!

If your brother lives 900 miles away and you're don't live there long enough for it to be considered your household, you're clearly abusing the system. Plain and simple.
Also, there is no limit to the number of redownloads, but please remember that you're not allowed to share your GOG account with other users as only you are entitled to download items from your account.

[...]

Yes. We do not limit the number of installations or reinstallations, as long as you install your purchased games on computers in your household.
