XYCat: ok but 1988 Captain Blood when? :D

Akeashar: I was excited when I saw the Captain Blood announcement, thinking the old C64/Amiga game was getting a port since the announcement referred to a 'classic'.

I was greatly confused when I saw this game instead, with nary a spaceship in sight.
Same here. But that would also require Commander Blood to go with it, and ideally Big Bug Bang with English translation. Oh well, one can always dream, right?

Random_Coffee: Very nice. There's just not enough pirate games.

Reminds me that I still gotta play RIsen 2..
Haha, I also need to play Risen 2, been in backlog forever.

Though I'm tempted to replay Risen 1 after the console update. Anyone have good experiences after the patch?

I think I still have the offline installer files saved for Risen 1 prior to update.

SargonAelther: Please resurrect Drakan: Order Of The Flame too!
You'd have to rip it from Sony's cold dead hands first. Along with most of the Psygnosis' catalogue.

The Second Part Is On Console Only So That Would Be Another Problem To Deal With. Maybe A Company Like NightDive Could Move It To PC? I Do Not Know But It Would Be Nice To Have The Both Games On PC.

Yep, the 2nd game was a console exclusive. Which was a strange decision because from the gameplay, you can clearly tell the game is still based firmly on the first game's engine core, just modified with a "better" coat of paint and some extra features/animations. Although also degraded in some regards, most notably gore and dismemberment for example.

I guess they were forced to go the console only route after Sony decided to nuke Psygnosis. The first Drakan was towards the very tail end of the games Psygnosis published before Sony started to dismantle them in 1999. With Sony's latest "hotness" in the form of PS 2 coming in the following year, I can easily imagine they went to Surreal (developers) before they started work on the sequel and told them "make this an exclusive" to push it. Could also easily explain the toned down gore and the "not as serious" feel the game has, as the first game was rated M.

Either way, a PC version should have been easily possible, so I assume it was not Surreal's decision. There is still emulation of course, but an official PC version would definitely be nice.

Still, it's Sony we're talking about, so it is 100% a theoretical debate. All their older games are towards the very bottom of the probability barrel of games that might ever see a re-release.

I'd settle for the first one, but the sequel would be nice too.

And yes, I've been begging Nightdive too.

So few great pirate games exist these days! Black Flag and Sea of Thieves are the two 'modern' ones which really play well, but this looks, feels and plays great!

Wishlisted and can't wait to buy. Thanks GOG!

Now...more pirate games please!!!

Yes to have all Drakan games on PC would be nice to see. I hoping nightdive or others complete the set and porting it if the first game come out and sell well. First game never played. It was rated strongly? So more gore and blood? Right up my alley then. Want to play it now you made me tempted to play it. Work is always a pester but will search out a copy.

It's an extremely good game. Although I doubt you'll find any physical copies out there. I randomly found a sealed big box several years ago in some Portuguese e-shop and shelled out over 70 euro for it. Even though I had already finished the game long before. That's how good of a game I consider it.

But just treat it as abandonware, because it is.

Slap dgVoodoo on it + the music fix: https://arokhslair.net/forum/download/file.php?id=437
And it works like a charm on Windows 10.

The gamma was not showing in the screenshots. The relevant dgVoodoo setting "Inherit color profile in full screen mode" was not on. It's been a long time since I last played the game and was a dgVoodoo noob back then. I now know what that setting does but just assumed it was on from the last time I played. Turns out it was not. The game is as bright as you want it to be, depending on the gamma setting. I was at 1.2 in-game, but the screenshots looked as if they were taken on 1.0. Here is a proper gamma pic.

Also, I assume you are on a non-TN display. Be it IPS or OLED, VA or whatever, to see especially dark images correctly, you have to really crank your display's brightness. I can still see the 3 previous screenshots fine on my TN display at ~23% brightness, although yes, they are darker than they should be.

Video game preservation? So GOG relists one game (Alpha Protocol) and suddenly everyone worships them? What about Spec Ops: The Line or JYDGE or any other game that gets pulled from sale and libraries?

If they were in the habit of pulling delisted games from everyone's libraries, EVERYONE here would've heard about it. If you truly lost those games from yours, something else is the issue.
