I remember years ago, one of the cheat codes for Doom 3 was 'Give Keys' to get all keys.

Now the Doom 3 console doesn't recognize this code anymore.

Any idea why they would remove a code option?

Keys are not included in the 'Give All' code.

try lower case. Sometimes these things are case sensitive.

I looked it up. Command doesn't exist in BFG edition.

Before I tried BFG, I played regular Doom 3 for the first time in many years. I printed out my old cheat codes list and tried the 'give keys' command that I always used before. Doesn't recognize.

I apologize for making this seem like a BFG issue. But it is with all Doom 3 versions.

Yep. Just confirmed that this is the case in the original as well. Weird.

Now I have to go into 'No Clip' mode to get through the locked doors. LOL

I will thank you for giving me an excuse to murder everyone in the Marine base at the start of the game while testing this. I don't have a later game save, but maybe that only works in areas after the first one...? Though it does say "unknown item keys added to inventory" so I think that's a game wide string not recognizing the object.

I Googled 'Doom 3 Cheats'. Many different websites with the cheat codes lists. They all include the 'give keys' command.

Maybe at some point after the original 2004 release, they removed it. Why that one? Doesn't make sense.

I'm wiling to bet they removed it when Resurrection of Evil released

Edit: http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/doom-3/535516p1.html includes "give keys" in a list of codes they couldn't get to work.
