I have those three, none of the others.

I am a pretty old school gamer. First game I played was on the Odyssey, back when you had to put overlays on your TV screen. And in the 80s, we had a series of early Apples. So I played Dark Castle and Scarab of Ra. But mostly I played text adventures, my favorite by far being Trinity - a kind of marriage of Alice in Wonderland and Impending Nuclear Devastation game. Absurdism meets Despair. And then there was a long time of no gaming at all, until 1996 or so when I started playing again. Fallout, Jagged Alliance, the Troika games, and Planescape: Torment were my favorites.

Oh, I also played Ultima VII with my buddy on his computer at some point in there.

Thanks for your opinion.
To be honest, I don't have that much experience with 6 or 7; what I do have is mostly from watching someone else play.

I suggest either starting with 6 (so you can transfer your party through the series), or skipping straight tp 8.

6 and 7 have some mechanics I dislike, like the "base miss chance" mechanic, and in 7, NPCs can beat you to certain treasures if you're too slow.
I hear GOG has this amazing new feature called private messages. You should check them out!

More fun this way. It is a good question for the GOG public at large to read or participate in. But I wanted dtgreene's input in particular, just not perhaps exclusively.

Even better would have been to make this post on the Wizardry series subforum. Subforums exist for a reason, and if it's a subforum I check, I am actually more likely to notice a topic like this there.

Well, 6 and 7 are very hard for players. 8 is much more player friendly, but you will need to know what happened in previous games to understand what is going on.

That's really good to know. Thanks
