"EA Origin will shut down on April 17, 2025, as a result of Microsoft no longer supporting 32-bit software.

Players that use Origin will need to download and install the EA app, available from EA's website, which requires a 64-bit version of Windows.

Games from Origin will transfer to the EA app automatically when players log in with their Origin account. If cloud saves are enabled save games will transfer. However, users will need to manually transfer data of titles that don't support cloud saves.

If players are upgrading to a new operating system, they won't need to redownload games. If they are upgrading their PC, data transfer is needed.

EA Origin launched in June 2011, followed by the EA App in October 2022. At the time of the EA app's release, the firm said it would slowly phase out Origin."
Good call from EA. "Origin" was the name of one of the developers EA bought and gutted.
What's the saying..."rent AAA games, win smart technology prizes"?
Ultima series, then Online. Wonder if it affects that crowd?
Wait what? How does anyone use origin still? I mean it sort of force-updated itself to EA app like a year or two ago

If you're using macOS Mojave or older versions, or running old 32 bit games like Zuma or PvZ, you need Origin, or if for some reason you're using a 32-bit version of Windows.

Sadly some titles can be lost due to the forced update from Origin to EA App. I bought the C&C Ultimate Collection back in 2012(?) downloaded and installed every game to my PC including the special edition pack (desktop wallpapers, music). The special edition pack however does not exist in the EA App. Thankfully it is still on my computer so I have not lost those files unlike EA.
The EA App is so bad even people that liked Origin hated the EA App, and even people that hated Origin missed Origin...
I understand why you're reporting this, but this is also a very "Yes, and?" situation; what do you wish to posit by this? Is it a portent? A warning? Purely informational background noise?
