Oh MAN. I hope you are doing better now!! PLEASE concentrate on getting better! Forum Mafia will always be here waiting when you are up to playing again--no rush. Your health is FAR more important.

Catventurer: You were scum team too? Congrats then!

So what this means is that absolutely nobody on my own team believed I was on my team. Okay, I'm going to leave now.
I thought you were town. But after I was stumpified, it seemed to not matter as much.

Lifthrasil: Here's the Daychat, by the way. I hope it's open now:

Catventurer: I'm going to go play Godhood now, where I can tell the followers of my religion you must worship cats.
avatar
joppo: Incoming cat pics after I get my phone charged up and I fetch my kitten from the vet.
I fostered kittens once and..... I really do prefer cats that are post-puberty. Cat teenagers and adults only for me. Kittens are cute, but I didn't enjoy the playing with poop and swinging from curtains.

Lifthrasil: On a rerun, I would probably not reset the Election votes, but keep them. Adding another layer of strategy (killing the right player to suddenly get the possibility of a speed-election. As it was, the Election mechanic was a gimmick, but it didn't really matter. Since an unanimous Elections wasn't really possible.

What do you think? The missing Night phase was a drain on everybodies presence and the game was plagued by too many absent players. But would it be worth trying a Nightless game some time again? Or is it just too much stress?
Besides maybe making elections require lesser number to pass both these sounding fine.

I personally am indifferent about the Night phase, but I don't think on this site it is very feasible to go without one.

Micro, tell us your thoughts about our prideful B-class scum team (we're not A-class because we couldn't live up to what I said to yogsloth earlier).

I giggled a bit when I reading the puzzling over my bread crumbs.

The B-class can actually be more powerful than the A-class!

Of course, any excuse to get a Townie excluded is a good excuse! We just had to, well, make sense of it to put down our own "interpretation" and suspect you based on that.

"Secret Mafia"
I'd ask myself what I drank that night, except that I usually don't drink. Or in fact, I don't drink! Last time must've been roughly two years ago and it wasn't even that strong of a drink.

"Fortunately [scene] just couldn't resist giving me an opening by taking what I said out of context. It was also a nice opportunity to explain how I (truly) have seen the game as being in RVS mode for so long, maybe that will indirectly make Catventurer doubt her intuition - not that it was built on concretely scummy behavior of mine."

Well, I'll have you guys know that scene taking what I said out of context was indeed, IMHO opinion, very scummy behavior and it was my basis for continuing to hunt him down and later Flocke for the rest of the game. I'm honestly actually disappointed the Catholics went pursuing other trails (even though that worked in our favor as scum) instead of just ousting him on Phase 1.

"I wonder by how much I got better at Mafia. I'm certainly much better than when I started for sure, but the question is by how much. Does it all come down to being familiar with enough of the player base? Or maybe it's about honing the ability of reading between the lines? I don't remember ever doing stuff like analyzing wagons, maybe I've done it but I'm not sure it benefits as much as actually gauging my fellow players? I guess understanding mechanics and using that to guess at something is more relevant to Secret Hitler. I'm not sure."

I never got a wagon worth talking about this game, unless you count the Phase 1 "wagon". I guess I am getting better, even if I don't know the how or why.

https://whyquicktopicwhy.proboards.com/post/2187/thread

After realizing the stump mechanic:
"Oh shit you're right. Instead this will make all of the Catholics *trust* Catventurer, and I think by now, we know she's very persistent and has a great intuition. It'll be a matter of time before she finds us out as a stump, and from there she just knows what to do to get things going."

Your name is one to run away from very far away as scum. Don't you like having that reputation, Catventurer?

----

https://whyquicktopicwhy.proboards.com/post/2212/thread

"Usually I'd be happy being scum, coming up with various schemes to dispatch those pesky Townies and get my way but... let's be honest, I'm not even trying something as simple as deceiving them into thinking I'm the Catholicest Catholic to ever Catholic. Ugh."

Well I might not have done the best possible bouts of scummy mental gymnastics to trick you Townies, but I think in the end what we have already done has paid off handsomely.

"trentonlf offtopic but did you play any tabletop games in a setting involving airships and floating continents? I like that aesthetic and want my first GM experience to be in such a place, but I've zero idea how to go about it."

When you've gotten so cynical about Town ripping apart anything you say, you decide to say it in scumchat instead of the actual game, lol. Deep down I'd know that Town wouldn't look at me trying to get a feel for how tabletop works from the GM. But there's still this level of paranoia that drives you into the place you know you wouldn't be voted in for info about something unrelated to the game.

I could've asked in the forum mafia admin thread too, this way it would've been outside the context of the game as well. And in-game, just ask trent to look there. This way, all of Town knows exactly what I'm talking about and I don't waste their time on something I don't intend to be a part of the game. Huh, the things that can happen if you just spend two minutes rubbing your two brain cells.

"Also since this is the only place where I can express my surprise without having all of the Catholics circling me like vultures:

THAT WAS THE HAMMER!?"

In-game, I very confidently dropped the hammer on Farky, ending his miserable existence as a Pope-electing Cardinal. Or that's what it looks like, because right after that, someone said that Farky was hammered. I wasn't prepared for this. I never intended to be the hammer, only to add my voice on the wagon as a face saving measure.

In following with the previous theme, I kept my surprise to the scumchat, and in-game pretended as if I knew exactly what I was doing. That was fun.

"Now I will fully admit I have given several passes to both of y'all this game that I normally would have poked at, but my gut was telling me to lie low in those instances so I did, and I sure hope that doesn't bite me at some point. Eh, what can you do :) "

Is this the basis on which yogsloth said trent was a bit more easy going this time? Speaking of, where are you, Cardinal Sloth? I wanna see all your reactions!!

"Thinking about it, I think anyone in my place should be kind of mildly terrified about the fact they're Scum and they're in a position where they get to pick whether the wagon goes through or not.

Granted that's not really true, there's a few other people who could vote instead of me, but for now I have this power to end it early or late, or not end it at all, and I'm not working in the best interests of Town, obviously."

The funny thing is that this happened twice. Me being put in a position where I as The Scum decide whether the wagon succeeds or flops. And in both cases, I'm winning, because the wagon is on a Townie, but yes.

"Okay scumbuddies. This is it. In this phase, we make it or break it. It's the difference between a Flawless Victory, a Victory or a plain and simple Defeat. And I think we should aim for Flawless Victory, otherwise we're more likely to be looking at Defeat. (4 Catholics versus 2 Reformers means two more phases of AGONY!)"

I don't think any of you played Touhou, or one of those hectic shmups where the skill barrier is high and the room for error is low (you might have played Undertale/Deltarune, think about the bullet dodging segments but they're super intense). If you're close to your limits, maybe the difficulty isn't a breeze or the territory you're in is unfamiliar to you and you've been in this state for so long, you start to... "choke". That is, at some point, sooner or later, a mistake will happen, and you have that feeling deep down that it's coming any second now. It's not a matter of if it will happen, but when.

And that's why it was essential to secure a Flawless. A choke at this stage was stupid likely, imagine how much more so if we had to go through two more phases and one team member short.

I meant you scums figuring if my capitalized letters spelled anything (tosee) when the letters chosen were random.

Well, you see.

I couldn't rub my two brain cells hard enough to figure out that it wasn't the letters, but the words that held them. By the time we figured it out (I wonder why), the mystery was no longer there and you got lynched anyway, but not before getting a bunch of people who thought you weren't it (me included - as a pretend Townie).
