I finally managed to do something that i was always wanted to do, that being to somehow sort my game library.

I got it all here now:
https://www.grouvee.com/user/SmurfK/shelves/55036-backlog/?sort_by=sort_name&dir=asc&platform=&platforms_on=&genre=&num=100&dateFrom=&dateTo=

I still did not received a game :(
That makes sense.

However, I am keen on trying disciples 1 and 2. What about icewind dale?

PaterAlf: I think Gnostic wanted to say that you should play the games in this order: Disciples 1+2 (3), Icewind Dale Complete (1), Baldur's Gate 1+2 (2).
avatar
tinyE: Great idea!
No way in hell am I entering! :P

All I need is some smart ass sticking me with NWN Complete. :P
Yeah, a playthrough of NWN can't be called complete until you've tried at least 20 of the top voted community modules, too. ;)

HereForTheBeer: Well, I think if someone has Jack Keane in their backlog then that is the automatic assignment.
Thanks for giving me a reason not to enter! :D

I guess the task of choosing one would fall to those who applied as participants? So far, that's only Pater Alf and Lionel212009, I think? I wouldn't mind suggesting a game to you, but I don't want to take part myself, as I've already enough on my plate without anyone else dictating what I should force myself to play. :D

Btw, are you really sure you want someone to choose a completely random game from your whole collection, without you giving any pointers as to what type of games you're in the mood to play, or which genres you don't like?

I'll reserve this spot for interest. Right now my backlog is at least 90% of the games I own, so if this thread is still active same time next year I'll see about joining.

Gnostic: Play 3, then 1 then 2.

Save the best for the last

Lionel212008:
Errrr, I will rephrase.

Play 3) Disciples 1 + 2, then play 1) Icewind Dale complete , then save 2) Baldur's gate 1 + 2 for the finale.

Feel free to pick if you want to, without any obligations. :)
And yea, i'm ok with picking an random game. That's how i was basically picking my games until now, so nothing would really change.

I want this to be more of an interactive recommendation thing than an contest on who will give the most difficult game. You see a game that you had a lot of fun with on my backlog, i probably overlooked it and i'll have fun with it too.
This is an interesting idea just have a suggestion though.

When a game is assigned, should person keep a start and finish time when writing a short impression about the game? I really can't put my finger on why but it doesn't seem right to have a challenge like this without keeping a log of the time the game took to complete.

Also, some people have a backlog into the hundreds or even over 1000. What should these GOGers do?

Right now I already have 3 games in progress so I really can't participate at the moment but once I've cleared the games I want to play, I think I might join in :)

I found a game on your list that I've enjoyed very much and I want you to play it too:

Escape Goat

And I will be nice: You can mark it as completed when you finished all the normal levels. You don't have to play the insane bonus stuff. :-)

Accepted! I really wanted to start that one, as it's looking kinda crazy.

I understand, but people's tastes differ significantly. A sucker for strategy games and a passionate point-and-click adventure fan might suggest games to each other that they will actually end up hating and wasting their time with. ;)

The normal levels aren't very hard. You should be able to complete the game in some hours. The bonus levels on the other hand are completely insane. They are among the hardest levels in puzzle-platform gaming that I've ever seen.

Well, it's just an idea, we don't need to be strict about it.
It's hard to state a time when you will finish it. Some of us play slower, others faster, depends on the game too. For example, i am playing Inquisitor right now. I can basically click on all text options in that specific game, go over them without reading all the stuff and got to finish the game faster. But i really enjoy reading all the things that characters have to say.

I don't want to see this as a challenge, but more as a club that can work based on gentleman's agreements, not by strict rules. I'll make a list from time to time of members with assigned games, so we will be able to keep track easier. Right now, i'm gonna help that goat to escape. Or do i have to catch her? I don't know!

Well, then you don't have to put all the games on your backlog, put just the ones that you think you'll have fun with. I personally found a lot of games that i had fun with, even if they are not in my usual interest as genre, so i'm pretty open about it.

Well, i'm very bad at platformers in general. For example, i wasn't able to finish Super Meat Boy. But if they are more into puzzles and less into the reaction times, i'm ok with it.

LE: Ohhh... I see now. It's actually really nice game. More puzzles than timing jumps and crazy stuff. Or might be first levels. BAAAAA!

With almost 1600 games on steam and over 600 here I'm not sure I want to take part...

I wasn't thinking of time limits or logging every second spent in the game or even specific times. I only meant something along the lines of a date the challenge was issued and a completion date, nothing more than that really. I agree with you, how long it took you really doesn't matter or if you played with completionism in mind or a simply speed run.

It really was just a suggestion for the sake of completeness, not to add any sort of strict challenge.
