Gestalt: Steam & Cinder launched on Steam on July 16th. It's currently discounted 50% off and has very positive reviews overall. On GOG, it was stuck "coming soon" until it just vanished recently.

Is it too much to ask to provide an announcement with a reason for removal in these situations, same as delistings for items that have actually been on sale? It's more than a little irritating to have to examine my wishlist with a fine-tooth comb to find out what was removed without warning.

During the holidays?
Probably yes.
Fuck'em
In my opinion, no, it isn't too much to ask. It's basic courtesy that I believe the Store, Publisher, and Developers should extend to their audience. Have you considered creating a community wishlist? Just days ago, GOG celebrated reaching 3 million fulfilled votes on their Community Wishlist. Your request seems like something they could automate when delisting games, creating a win-win situation from any perspective. It may take them some time due to their recent substantial staff layoffs, but hey, it's Christmas!

It'd be nice to know what those count for, and if they were counting things which became unavailable or are joke wishes.

Existing community wishlist entries sort of fit the bill well enough:
Warning when a game is about to be removed from the system
Keep store page for removed games (with disabled purchasing)
Notify people, if a game they have wishlisted is about to be removed/delisted.

I don't expect anything will happen.
• GOG possibly allows publishers to change their minds about selling games here, no questions asked. Anything else could be seen as a roadblock to getting more games into the store. Even when there's a delisting announcement, there's sometimes no reason provided.
• My main gripe is things being removed from my wishlist without warning, leaving behind an invisible entry. Any technical fix is unlikely, given all the other things that are broken. I'm really not sure GOG has more than one employee handling site coding and such.
What the hell? WHY?

FFS, this was easily one of my most anticipated games on GOG for years...
Their loss, definitely not going to just rent it on the other platform, I want to own a copy.

ReynardFox: What the hell? WHY?
Miscommunication between developer and publisher if I recall correctly.

The publisher wanted to release on GOG, while the developer did not. Or the other way around.
Never heard of this game.

You guys make it sound very special, but by the trailers and Wikipedia it just seems some kind of generic platform jumping metroidvania game with "pixel-art graphics", ie. not really my cup of tea.

Oh well, my loss I guess... Maybe they will release Gestalt: Galaxy & Cinder here instead some day.

Well this is a real bummer. I had the game on my wishlist for a long time. I was rather looking forward to it. It looked like just my kind of game.

See, I don't understand why anyone would not want to release their game here. I know GOG's market share is small compared to Steam's, but more sales is more sales even if it is a small amount. What kind of company says no to more money?

I often wonder the same thing? Maybe they’re afraid of it being DRM-Free and are one of those devs that believes it leads to Increased piracy? (Anyone know if it has DRM on Steam?) Maybe they’re too lazy to maintain multiple builds for multiple storefronts and just want to stick to one? Maybe they just have a burning hatred for GOG for some reason? Really it’s anybody’s guess?

What perplexes me most is when a game gets pulled from sale, but the devs promise to continue to update the GOG build, like recently happened with SpaceEngine. If they’re going to bother to continue updating the game, why not keep it up for sale to continue earning revenue from it? It’s a mystery to me…

Thank you #Ice_Mage, I added my mark to their counts.

Please consider adding yours to the wish I just created:

Community Wish Age: Display Creation Dates for Community Wishes
https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/community_wish_age_display_creation_dates_for_community_wishes
Please display the creation dates for each community wish. Currently, the only way to determine the age of a wish is by checking the first comment made, which is not necessarily accurate. Thank you!

I agree. Please take a moment to read my previous post. Additionally, the creation date (age) is a fundamental piece of information that should be prioritized for fulfilling wishes based on their vote ratio. I hope GOG considers sharing that information with us. I invite you and the readers to vote for my request. If they say they are listening, it's up to us to speak up.
SOS This platform is about as transparent as sludge. They kissed my business Sayonara many moons ago.

The game had been coming soon on GOG for 4 years. How is it even possible to have someone involved be that asleep at the wheel?
