BreOl72: I still wonder whether all the people who get "spammed" by GOG have something in common...and if so - what...
So far it seems to just be a bunch of Aussies experiencing this.

BreOl72: I mean - I never get more than one, maybe two (different!) emails/week from GOG.
I get at least one email a day from GOG, and it has been that way for a long time ... no doubt related to the number of games on my Wishlist, which is over 900, and all the sales we have each week.

Well, I didn't subscribe to wishlist alerts, so that's that...
if you unsubscribe from the e-mails do that all stop? I didn't see that answered (maybe I missed it).
If we didn't respond, it was likely we didn't feel it warranted a response, because (1) that would stop all emails from GOG, (2) we did not want that.

There are a number of smart arses at this forum who make smart arse obvious comments that many of us just ignore, especially the case with one liners that don't offer anything constructive, and come across as spam or trolling or insulting our intelligence.

If you were genuinely trying to offer good advice, then I don't get it .... for the reasons I have just mentioned.

I was wondering if one of the multiple e-mails stops but the other still show up vs they all stop. With my issue, if I unsubscribe & re-subscribe (via the "orders and settings"), I still don't get them.

I can't use the "unsubscribe" link from the e-mails to test & see if that would fix my problem since I don't get them any more. :)

Maybe that would clear out something on their end that is sending you multiple e-mails.

Depends on what you have subscribed to, resp. what you unsubscribe from.

- wishlist alerts

- Promotions and hot deals

- Releases and announcements

- coming soon

As you can probably guess, some overlappings exist between these categories.

I'm sure, having subscribed to wishlist alerts, is where the main problem lies for the people who get "spammed" with emails from GOG - they basically get, what they asked for...and with the everlasting stream of sales here on GOG, that means receiving an everlasting stream of notification emails, when one of their wishlisted games is on sale.

If on top of that someone also subscribed to any of the other options, well...let's just say: it all adds up.

Yep it all adds up for sure, and having so many sales each week doesn't help, especially in the case of a lot of games on one's wishlist, which GOG send you emails for based on sections at a time. I'm not a big fan of that, but what can I do, when there is only two options, all or nothing.

In any case, it is not multiple notifications about games on my wishlist being discounted, that I am getting multiple emails for, it is other more unique emails from GOG. Something about them has an issue, seemingly related to Aussies or some of them.
After much thought, and still getting multiple copies of the same email .... recently I got seven copies of TOP gaming deals from this week ... I have now unchecked 'Wishlist Emails'. That doesn't solve the multiple emails, but at least reduces how many daily emails I get from GOG, especially as with around 900 entries on my wishlist, I often get more than one wishlist email a day ... can be a few in a day, and in big sales they are large emails.

I've been reluctant to do this, but have made improvements to my wishlist checking program, so I am now going to rely on that instead. Of the around 900 entries on my wishlist, about half have been added to my wishlist checking program, and of that around 85 are designated as a favorite, and they are now the only ones I check, which currently takes less than two minutes.

If you are curious to know, I add games and DLCs to my GOG wishlist if I have some degree of interest in them, with many just making it over the line. Around half of them, I have a greater level of interest in, and currently 85 of those I have a high level of interest or desire for. Price is always the deciding factor for anything on my wishlist, but means an instant buy for any of the 85 once a fair price is reached. With the others on my wishlist, it means re-checking them when the price is reduced enough. The half I am least interested in, need to be a significantly low price for me to even bother to re-check.

For now, I will only be checking the 85 favorites each day, at least twice a day. I also check the Free Games page once a day for new demos and free games. I will check the main page once or twice a week now for new games, but I still get those emails. If I miss any good bargains so be it ... with over 1700 games at GOG now and more than that combined from other places, I have plenty to go on with. :)

This is all part of my aim to spend less time at GOG each day, which also helps reduce my angst over things that should be done at GOG, but aren't. Call it a limited boycott if you like. LOL

I have also decided to participate less in the forum, which will no doubt please a few. :P
I looked deeply at why I and others post in the forum ... the likely reasons outside of trying to get help or information or provide such. Plus I looked at the types of people that often post, especially the negative and or aggressive things, and decided I could do without that stuff or nonsense on a daily basis. My life is a hell of a lot more than gaming, and I am not that desperate for a conversation with others, that I should be tolerating all the crap as much as I have been. I've got better things to do in my retirement. :)

This is my last post in this thread, and also the last time I will look at it. GOG will fix things or they won't.
Cheers!
Have fun!

P.S. I have spent the last week trialing some of my new approach to GOG, and it has gone well. :)
