Trooper1270: But the OP fails to mention (and for some reason, did not include it in the picture posted) the image of the old 80's Macintosh 128k on the right-hand side of the front page banner. Which is not a console in any stretch of the imagination... But they may not be old enough to realise that it is in fact a computer and just focused on the controllers, to bolster their conspiracy...
Ah so thats the pc that image was based on was wondering as I knew it was based on a older pc just wasn't sure which one as I am familar with atleast the looks of varies older computers if not the hardware and tech of em let alone the software they had .. So thanks for that as ever sense I seen that image its been bugging me in a ''what pc is that based on ?'' sort of thing on my mind

Side note anyone Remember when PCs had a legit key lock a physical one on em and also some older ones you could legit have a piece of metal you slip into the case and put a regular padlock in a slop on the metal as some security measure?

cose_vecchie: I used joysticks with my C64 and Amiga, and they were certainly personal computers, not consoles.

Sachys: Didnt they both (in fact) also qualify as... COMPUTER CONSOLES?! :O
Oh snap. You just blew up the whole narrative.
It's all about coming together, folks. Like Frankenstein's monster, all patched together with nothing but love to guide us.

It's a small part of it and looks like a robot more than a pc. No one will recognise an old computer

I too can hardly tell the difference between a SNES and PS4 controller. They look so similar! Here's a comparison -

Even if it was a robot, it still doesn't make it a console... And the fact that the picture of the (now identified) computer is bigger than the picture of the two controllers put together, actually makes it a larger part of it...

Anyway, there are no consoles in that picture, so you can sleep soundly now, until the next time...

nightcraw1er.488: Looks like an Xbox 360 controller, and the other is an 8bitdo controller, both fully PC usable? I can understand the timing of the sale is a bit obvious, but I don’t think it’s this subtle!
Actually both look like Snes controllers, neither which work on PC's without special adapter and driver. But I think these are meant to be general controllers, like "gaming yay!" or something.

Clearly different the PS4 has the handlebar sides, where as the drawing has arms and legs where neither seem to be those handle bars. SNES has two buttons in the center, like both drawings PS4 has the joysticks, clearly not drawn in either picture.Nothing like shoulder buttons in either drawing. And Snes controllers have those circles on either side like shown in the picture.

Crevurre: This screencap of the sale promotion shows that consoles are the only thing on gog's mind and the mind of their employees doing these promotions.

yes agree
i found this odd too ,why use typical console accessories for your pc only game store ? makes no sense
to me it tells the advertiser is a console kid and probably havent played on pc ever

These are not "typical console accessories". These are typical game accessories. The old arcade machines had sticks and buttons as well.
Keyboard and mouse make people think of work (maybe except those who never had to work on a computer).
Almost everyone who talks about video games, thinks of a game controller or a joystick first.

Next time I am sure the artist will remember to include joysticks, keyboards, mice, flightsticks, steering wheels, vr headsets, so everyone is satisfied :)
There is no ill will behind our keyvisual, as there are plenty of people out there who enjoy playing games with a controller. We just wanted to highlight a space theme with cute shapeshifting aliens in form of controllers and PCs.

I am afraid that since this thread leads to nowhere, I will close it.
