Recently GOG Galaxy has started to get a bit too much in your face for my liking.

Using cheap tricks : For example ..

On your Game Library, when you look at the game where we download the Offline Manual Installation files, those files used to be all that was there, and for my preference all that I want.

Now the big button to download GOG Galaxy is the only thing on show, and the files we want are now BY DEFAULT buried under a toggle switch you have to expand to see the files.

Not only that but if you want to see all the files there (DLCs and optional files in addition to the main Manual Install files), you have to refresh the page, expand the toggle again, and now you will be able to see what were previously hidden extra files. I believe this is probably a bug with the site software (giving GOG the benefit of the doubt here), but it needs to be fixed.

Its all starting to look a bit deceitful GOG, the tyranny of the defaults leading people away from the DRM free files we bought, and seducing people to install a client which by default runs in the background and makes windows operating system less secure because it now has more vectors for attack until experts like Googles Project Zero team come along and show you what vulnerabilities you have created due to your lack of expertise in the field.

Anyone else wish the manual offline installation files were brought back to being a bit more prominent in your libraries ?

Uhhhh... it remembers the toggle setting for me. Zero extra clicks to download the installers and extras.

Not that I download from the library anyway, I use GOGrepo.

It's far better than it was, when Galaxy was embedded in the default installers and the non-Galaxy installers were buried under the 'More' tab.

How many clicks is not the issue

GOG seducing everyone into using the Galaxy client and leading them away from just using the game installation files we bought is the issue.

I know its attractive for auto-downloading and updating game files etc, but to me its just another probable vector for exploiting windows we can all do without.

Tinfoil hat on .. maybe, but if Valve and the Steam Client can be used as a backdoor after all their experience I dont have much confidence in GOGs newbie client being able to protect anyone against such hacking by nefarious entities.
Its software we do not need to install, taking up CPU cycles which can be better utilised by the games, and it is being pushed by making it default which makes me wary of the people making it, and their ultimate goals.

OP should consider installation of something like ublock.
Giant galaxy button annoyed me too, so I've just banned it from load (picrelated) on any download page

No Mans Sky just updated so here is an opportunity to show the refresh glitch I mentioned in the OP

First expand tthe offline files section, and I see the following

Now if I use my browser refresh on the page, and again expand the offline files section ..

Extra files are revealed - Patch (1.53 to 1.54) / DLC installer

This happens without fail every time I log in and check for updates to the manual install files.

I have to refresh every time, otherwise there are manual install files missing.

And we can rule out the possibility that the files were uploaded just after my first look, it really does happen every time, I can leave it a day before I check for updated files long after the developers have uploaded all their files and I still have this problem where a refresh is required before all files become visible.
I have had plenty of opportunity to test this since No Mans Sky Next update, it has had 8 patch sets since the first update.

This is using chrome. Nobody else get such problems ? (I suppose it depends on the game and how many manual install files are available, the more files the more obvious this issue will be).

I don't have that problem (using firefox). All downloadable files are displayed on the first click.

Well I am not changing to Firefox, if the site is not supporting Google Chromes methods of reading a sites code the site needs to take a look at the issue, imho.

The only plugin installed is UBlock Origin, no other ad blockers or anything (which I very much doubt would be the cause of this issue anyway)

Galaxy doesn't add DRM so by using Galaxy your files are not any less DRM Free. You can even download the offline installers with Galaxy if you find those more convenient.

You don't have to run it. All your games will work without it, it can simply be used a glorified downloader. It can be off when you go to play said offline game.

While I would by no means call GOG's programmers prefect, I got a bridge to sell you If you don't think Google's stuff has no vulnerabilities. It's part of software development.
