I bought Gothic 3 from GOG. After I installed it I noticed I had two new start up entries. Both for install shields update manager. I have installed many programs and games that used install shield but not once has has a game ever installed the update manager. I was surprised that GOG would leave this enabled..especially considering there is no option not to install it. I confirmed that Gothic 3 was the culprit as it was directly listed in the Managers menu. When install shields manager is installed it is listed under control panel items and cannot be uninstalled using programs and feature in Windows to remove it. I had to kill the running services, disable from start up, and manually remove the associated files and registry entries. The only thing I cant remove is the control panel Install Shield program updates entry. I have looked in system 32 for ISUSPM.cpl (Install Shield Update Service Program Manager control panel item) but it is not there or hidden. The link is now dead as the files and reg entries are all removed but it is s till annoying. It is unfortunate that GOG would leave this with some of their games.
