I am once again hoping to get some suggestions from the community. Specifically, I'd like to know of games you'd personnaly recommend that are available in stores that legally allow us to backup our files after the purchase, but which aren't here on GOG
For example, I know you can get DRM-free games from Steam, but are we in the clear to back them up, or would that technically break TOS (I don't know, that's why I am asking)? If not, I'd rather not count games in such stores for this.

No need to talk about the stores themselves at length (unless you need to clarify/explain something), I'd just like to know of quality games that I am missing out on, and I can still get DRM-free.
Zortch (Maxinum against the Alien Brainsuckers)
Great little one-dev retroshooter combining ideas from Quake 2, Half-Life, Turok and others, but also adding its own ones, plus running on a custom engine, and sold at a very low price, too. Available on that other DRM-free store that's popular with solo indie devs.

Steam allows you to back up your games. Using a program to crack or bypass Steam will probably void the license. If the game is 100% DRM free on Steam, then you should be all good.

I would recommend Days Gone on epic store which is DRM free.

Death Stranding, Detroit: Become Human, and Rise of the Tomb Raider are DRM-free on Epic.

Hitman: World of Assassination is sort of DRM-free on Epic, in that you need to use specific launch commands and a lot of content is gated behind an online connection. It's bad enough that I would look into what is gated behind an online connection before buying.

I believe, but am not 100% certain, that Civilization VI can also be played without the Epic Launcher, sans multiplayer obviously.

-Edit- Fixed a typo.

Good to know! I wasn't sure, because with all the EULAs and stuff like that I never feel certain of anything.

I didn't know it was DRM-free on Epic. I assume the same rules as with Steam apply? I am not a huge fan of the game itself (I got to play it on Steam, and it wasn't quite what I expected), but it's cool to know.

There are more big games DRM-free on Epic than I thought!

Steam even has a feature to back up your games. But if the game is DRM-free, it would be easier to do it yourself.

I think the same rules apply, not sure. Also, Star wars Fallen order is DRM-free on the EA store. Tested it myself.

I might buy this game now. Thank you

Any advice on how to deal with Epic store and protect Tencent from a backdoor into my comp.? Typical malware scanner? Should I use a Virtual Machine?

This is just my opinion. I would install it and use third party uninstall program to remove all bull left behind, or use VM like you suggested.

I use this program to uninstall games and apps.

The city-builder deck-builder puzzle game Concrete Jungle is available DRM-free on itch. I really enjoy it.
Shadow Vault - entertaining, but challenging tactic game (turn-based) with symbolic cRPG elements. Currently on store starting with letter Z - disclaimer, this version has multiplayer cut off (in original game there was not-DRMed multiplayer, where you could also play with AI), but on the plus side, works without additional hassle on modern systems.

I know it doesn't have good notes in press, but I personally consider it as extremely enjoyable game, with long campaign.

Drums of War - quite "hardcore" tactic game, with humble graphics, but very satisfying battles, currently available only on Slitherine store (disclaimer - it has requirement to provide CD-key during installation, but it's just old-style cd-key, which you need to enter only during installation, works offline 100%).

Legion Gold - this one is both on Steam and Slitherine, but IMO better option would be Slitherine, as it has only the mentioned CD-key - accessible and fun mix of economy and military turn-based strategy, with concept of battles, where you give orders only at the beginning, then watching the outcome in real time

All three I've played and all three I highly recommend

I keep forgetting Slitherine is pretty much a DRM free store.
Just a few that I've looked at...

Darkest Dungeon II (EPIC)
For the King (EPIC)
Hitman World of Assassination (EPIC)*
Rising Storm II: Vietnam (EPIC)*

Alpha Protocol (STEAM)
Fable The Lost Chapters (STEAM)

* claims to be DRM free

Thanks. So no luck for Spidey, Returnal or God Of War? God has been out for a LONG time is why I ask.
I dunno why Rise of the Tomb Raider is not already on GoG, because many other Tomb Raider are available as well. Still good to know you could get it DRM free elsewhere.

Dragon Quest XI S is DRM free too... and of course Hades (all platforms).

20XX (but not its DLC) is DRM-free on a legendary storefront.

Though less of a game and more of a physics sandbox, BeamNG.drive is DRM-free everywhere it is sold.
