tfishell: He was already interested in the game, but I believe Stephen Kick of Nightdive Studios was spurred on to work on re-releasing System Shock 2 by seeing the high number of Community Wishlist votes (I recall reading that in an article but I don't have a source; somebody can correct me).

Cavalary: This one?
Not sure if that's the exact article I read but yeah that's the general bit I was looking for, thanks.

"According to Kick, Star was wary about doing anything with the rights due to how expensive it would be to create a sequel. Kick went another route, pitching them on re-releasing System Shock 2 in a playable state on Steam and GoodOldGames.com (GOG). He showed them the sizable wishlist for the game on GOG as evidence that there was a demand for such a re-release. He eventually persuaded Star with the potential profit and borrowed money from friends and family to pay for the licensing fee."

Also I'll point out that in the case of "Cthulhu Saves the World", GOG unrejected the game but https://twitter.com/werezompire/status/1204452174559928321 - "We told them not at the moment since it's an old game that doesn't work great on modern computers and isn't selling much these days." There's a similar case for at least one other game but I'm not comfortable mentioning it.

Unfortunately I'd say the wishlist isn't great for indies unless they can garner a sizable number of votes in a reasonable time (I think Lucy Dreaming was able to; unfortunately it doesn't seem to have sold much, no reviews on the store page), and there may be ways to improve it for them and certainly ways to improve the wishlist in general, but as it is I of course prefer having a Community Wishlist over not having one.

Darvond: I'm just glad the authors of Hatred directly insulted Poland, so it'll never come here.
Polish people and companies aren't allowed to insult Poland? Weird.
