I'm already not impressed. Maybe it's just growing pains because it's a brand new service, but talk about bare bones. There isn't even anyway to wishlist a game. I only made an account to anticipate The Pathless and Rebel Galaxy Outlaw and to get a chance to play a PC version of Journey.

Fuck that, what's the forum like!?
Uh.... forum?

Joke. Referring to dorks like me who only come here for the forum. :P
They know why they don't offer a forum. xD
Why would you even want to wishlist anything there? ;P
I mean, it's just starting it's development. GOG also needed a few years to have something of a orderly design.

I assume they are prioritizing on being a storefront first rather than a community hub.

I made one too, overall I don't think it's that's bad.. it does what it needs to do. There are some features it defiantly needs eventually, but I think overall it's more modern looking that both Galaxy and Steam right now. Epic Games seems to be opening it up now as more of a soft launch with it gaining more features and games in 2019. It's not even really open yet to devs (only to those Epic has made a deal with privately). Considering there isn't a lot of games on it yet, a lot of features like a wishlist are unnecessary at this point.

But Epic Games has a lot of resources and developers, so I suspect the Epic Games Store will progress far faster than GOG has with for example Galaxy. I think Valve should be concerned and I think GOG should be down right worried right now. There is already a massive amount of interest from developers who see Epic succeeding as a win for them (even if it means lower payout due to a lower user base in the short term, long term is far more attractive with Epic), and Epic has far more consumer interest and a larger user base (due to Fortnight) than GOG. So I can see sales on the Epic Games Store being far better than what GOG could achieve when compared to Steam.

If developers start to prioritize Epic Games Store (and it already starting to happen with or without financial backing from Epic even at this early stage) it will hurt both Valve and GOG. Valve has the resources and ability to match Epic Games (ie 88/12 spit, with 88% going to dev/pub) if it comes down to that and to really modernize Steam (which it as not done due to lack of competition and due to pure laziness). GOG on the other hand barely does okay now with such a large overhead, and I don't see them being able to make it if they try to match that split if it becomes the new industry standard (which is a strong possibility), at-least not with how GOG currently operates which tends to be outdated.

Epic Games is actually being very smart with this. Users will bitch and moan about games not being on Steam (or even users here about not being on GOG) but the truth of the matter is the majority of users will go where the games are and if new games tend to end up on Epic's Store (due to being more developer friendly) rather than Steam (or GOG) people will switch.

Epic Games is a real threat to Steam, and probably even a bigger threat to GOG where Epic Games will likely take the number 2 spot quite easily, and people are vastly under estimating how serious this just got. 2019 is going to be very interesting.

And that's the thing. Epic will be censoring the ecosystem, by removing forums and even the ability to leave reviews. According to the Epic folks, it's all because the baby devs don't like it. Can't believe I'm saying this, but between the two, Steam is a better choice. At least, you can connect with other gamers and have a voice normally.

According to their FAQ there will eventually be a rating system, but it'll be opt-in for developers.

Honestly, at present the Epic Games store seems like more of a competitor to Steam than GOG. GOG's unique selling point is, and always has been, the DRM-free aspect. The Epic store may be better for devs in terms of the revenue split, but from a consumer's point of view it's basically just Steam with a lot less features - though that may change in the future, of course.

I totally agree with you. The big problem esque Valve can compete with epic but Cd project does not have the capacity to do it.

It is going to be very complicated to survive, and they probably have to adopt measures that satisfy the developers and that users will not like, although they will always be faithful to the No drm.

I am convinced that in the short term it will no longer be possible to buy in gog russia. And that probably cd project develop some free to play to find its own phenomenon "fornite"

That is, epic will also have to adapt to the requests of users. They will have to add grades, share photos, achievements and other social options.

Yup, I definitely think so as well. And with GOG messing up left and right, they better fix this soon. It will be interesting to see whether CD Projekt will use Cyberpunk 2077 to push the store a bit. That Gwent: Thronebreaker thing flopped after all due to failed marketing and other factors.
Epic can promise me free games, exclusive games hell they can even promise me to inherit the whole world as a man one dictator but none of that matters for me because nothing they say can sway me to their platform.

If gamers don't want their gaming libraries split between dozens of clients then don't support them easy, unfortunately far too many people have difficulties keeping their principles when there's something they really, really want on the platform, i just wish enough would realize the power consumers do have if just a vast enough portion of them rose up and voted with their wallets until shit like exclusives, clients no one wants got flushed out.

Besides i'm staying far away from anything Tencent has their grasp in.
Epic is being smart with their free game every two weeks deal. I've only created an account there for that reason alone. And because Subnautica, the first one, has been on my wishlist for a while. Even if the store/interface isn't that great, I'll still use it for the free games, because I'm a sucker like that. It's the same with Twitch: I have Amazon Prime so I get a few free games a month, which is the only reason I ever use Twitch. I don't like having my games spread out across so many launchers, but I can't argue with free. Whether I use the Epic store for any games beyond that depends on whether they add more and better features though.
It would suck if this made some games disappear from GOG as well.

To be honest Subnautica for free is really getting to me lol. I really hate having multiple platforms for my games, buuuut....
