It seems to be suicide after a police arrest. In his last tweets he was supposedly announcing to take his life.
His account might have been hacked (maybe even by police). I am sure we will hear more of it the coming days.

7:12pm: I am a white male, make a lot money, pay a lot of money in taxes, and yet their abuse is equally doned out. DO NOT CROSS THEM!
7:08pm: This was right after the female officer ripped off my underwear.. I guess that's not considered rape if you're not a woman being raped.
7:03pm: "We're the police, we can do whatever the fuck we want.."
6:49pm: What does one have to get education wise to become a police officer.. asking for a friend.
6:42pm: The rest of my life is to fight against the police.. they are NOT friends, so don't ever ever believe otherwise.
6:41pm: The police are uneducated, evil, and sadistic. Do not trust them.
6:33pm: (2/2) They are uneducated, bitter, and and only interested in power for its own sake. Contact me imurdock@imurdock.com if you can help. -ian
6:31pm: (1/2) The rest of my life will be devoted to fighting against police abuse.. I'm white, I made $1.4 million last year,
6:07pm: i'm hoping coming from a successful white guy it will help everyone
6:06pm: i'm going to post my case on my blog.. if anyone can post it on hacker news or wherever i would apprieciate it
6:00pm: @jacksormwriter wants me dead
5:48pm: Writing up my experience for others to hopefully prevent others from police abuse then you won't hear from me again
5:45pm: where they put you in a cell with absolutely no instructions whatever aside from the spell on the floor in piss?
5:45pm: shall i post pictures for all my bruises from my against the police officers?
5:38pm: they said no
5:38pm: i asked if they had cameras
5:37pm: then followed my home from there
5:37pm: i had to have swtitches
5:36pm: then they pulled me out of my house and did it again
5:36pm: they followed me home
5:36pm: i had to go to the hospital
5:35pm: they beat the shit out of me twice, then charged me $25,000 to get out of jail for battery against THEM
5:34pm: if anyone wants to come over and see what the police did to me i would be more than happy for that
5:30pm: I'm not committing suicide today. I'll write this all up first, so the police brutality ENDEMIC in this so call free country will be known.
5:27pm: Maybe my suicide at this, you now, a successful business man, not a NIGGER, will finally bring some attention to this very serious issue.
5:25pm: My career is over now, so I'll be gone soon.
5:23pm: Quote: "We're the police, we always win."
5:22pm: I'll write more much later. They still don't have cameras on all police so I'm going to use my somewhat celebrity to hopefully stop this.
5:21pm: My bail for "assault against a police officer" are all that: $25,000.
5:20pm: Then beat me up some more.
5:20pm: I'll write more on my blog later. But the police here beat me up for knowing on my neighbor's door.. they sent me to the hospital.
5:17pm: https://t.co/I1CSCJErWf
5:14pm: watch my blog later http://ianmurdock.com
5:13pm: i'm committing suicide tonight.. do not intervene as i have many stories to tell and do not want them to die with me #debian #runnerkristy67

Still curious if he really committed suicide.
This whole affair sounds a bit fishy.

I wouldn't rule it out, but if it was, then police brutality may have been the reason indeed, since it seems to be a massive problem everywhere and especcially over there.
Those tweets make it too easy for people to dismiss this instance as nothing more than someone broadcasting their break from reality and thus creating an alibi for the police. Maybe they planted this, who knows?
Not that someone being harrassed by armed forces wouldn't easily lose his mind, it's more or less natural.

I'm sad that he ran "sudo apt-get autoremove" on himself.

NovumZ: There are also good Police Officers but there are the minority.

dtgreene: I suspect good police officers are actually the majority; you just hear about the bad ones because they are more likely to show up in the news. Also, people tend to only complain about the bad ones, not the good ones.
I'd suggest (not) having more experience with police. They are the largest criminal gang in the world.
I heard he was beaten and sodomized. I'm not joking.

Well I've had friends in law related enforcement roles saying the only difference between them and criminal gangs is that they are sanctioned by the state. The particulars about laws and abiding by them didn't seem to bother them much.
But that's only me so consider that.

Yep, I have the same experiences.
All my contact with police did more harm than good and they deliberately seem to hire violent bullies without much self-control, since all the policemen I knew personally did fit the bill while the ones that would have been different were often not hired because they were "overqualified" with their school grades, even when it was about jobs dealing with criminal psychology, I'm not joking.
One guy in my former martial-arts club was a policeman too and although I had no problem with him and we got along pretty well, he was the most violent guy of us and lacked self-control even in a controlled training environment, hardly someone I would like to see having power over civilians in critical situations.

Needless to say, I was hunted around the block by a fat police car without any good reason when I was still a schoolboy attending a registered demonstration against the invasion of Irak. In addition to that, back then the army wasn't allowed to be present at demonstrations but it were.

Police and military are well known for standing above the law around here and the handling in courts of cases of documented police brutality and outright assaults is underlining this strongly.
See also the results of the trial about the police brutality at the "freedom instead of fear" (Freiheit statt Angst) demonstration 2009. It was filmed by so many cameras that you practically had it in 3D and the judge said in all ernesty, that the civilian would have been allowed to retaliate, wtf? You are not allowed to wear anything that is protecting you against violence on demonstrations in Germany (part of the "Schutzwafffenverbot") and he should have taken a wild guess to be allowed and should have tried to stand up against armoured and armed forces? Sure, he wasn't exactly McBain!

An example for unlawful police activity thanks to the B ND (modern German StaSi) regarding someones own home is the case of Andrej Holm, a social scientist who had complete observation of his whole house (therefore including his wife, daughter, etc...) for a year and was held in custody without any real reason because he wrote something quite true that our politicians didn't like (about prekarisation, gentrification, etc... hinting a bit at the artificial creation of people for slave labour). He eventually had to be let go because he did absolutely nothing unlawful although they tried very hard to find something.
One of the "reasons" they stated was, that he didn't always take his cell phone with him, making him untracable.
I guess we are all forced to always be tracable via our cell phone location in the modern world.

Although strangely anough the army seems to be less unlawful than the police around here, you can look up the story of "Philip Klever", the whistleblower from the Afghanistan conflict which really started the whole debate about participation here and nobody remembers him since the media tried to suppress his story in many cases.

Such cases never get settled, because there really is no separation of powers, the judiciary and executive power are completely in the hands of the legislative body.

NovumZ: This United States Police Brutality needs to Stop and international community has to take a Notice. Since USA is part of the world it's institutions should adhere to international human rights!

I myself being an immigrant struggled to understand the monstrosity and logic behind this aggressive behavior towards troubled people, no compassion on part of the USA police. They are very brutal and sometimes remind me of SS in 1940's. There are also good Police Officers but there are the minority.

Rest in Peace, You are in a better place!
Yeah, lets just throw our sovereignty out the window, that'll fix this mess...

He claimed to have been beaten and had his underwear pulled down by a female officer. No idea where you got sodomy from, but he never mentioned it.

NovumZ: I've read the circumstances leading to his suicide if indeed it was one.
Still not the place for it. And definitely not if you're going to drag conspiracy theories into this. Considering that there were those twitter posts a while back where he was threatening suicide,

While I'm a tad curious about why he wasn't hospitalized, this isn't the place for that sort of speculation either.

Hopefully he can RIP.
