richlind33: Like smearing feces on yourself?

Go find a sandbox to play in if you're going to be that immature.

SirPrimalform: I am completely serious. Tremere's insistence that GOG is deleting links to proof of Linko being fired is completely unfounded and comes across as paranoia.

And yes, smearing faeces on myself is one thing in a very long list of things more productive (and enjoyable!) than further entertaining this ridiculous notion.
There were a few threads that got deleted, but that could very well be on account of maintaining confidentiality. So you're both wrong! ;p

I do remember a large number of duplicate threads being created by new members who'd come straight here from that Hambly dude's video which were subsequently downrated and spam deleted because they were dupes. But I don't see any evidence of GOG trying to suppress news of Linko being fired once it broke.

Starmaker: If an article isn't worth your time summarizing, it isn't worth anyone's time reading.

* Moded. Please refrain from insulting others.
Fair enough. Comparing a human to an animal is indeed a a serious insult. It was shameful of me to have done so, and I apologize. I should have said "serial harasser and wannabe* sex offender".

"Ana Valens" has a twitter account where he expresses opinions in favor of
- rape (says women owe men sex, and refusing to provide it on demand should be a hate crime),
- sex slavery (supports the sex slave trade and opposes government and charitable efforts to eradicate it),
- pedophilia (thinks girls should be sexualized and "profit" from it in an unspecified way),
- self-harm (says children should do it if they hate their appearance),
- sexual harassment (says women should have no expectation of privacy, says real women love harassment and those who don't are secretly men and you should tell them this and accuse them of lying if they object, for their own good [TN: lolwut])
- harassment in general, as evidenced by his efforts to further harass Linko in the article and follow-up posts on twitter.

And that's as much of twitter as my browser can pull without crashing. It's not rumors, hearsay or unsubstantiated slander, but the content he personally posts to the Internet under his assumed name. It is his opinions that should be insulting to any decent person, as well as the fact that this predatory man is paid to broadcast them.

I again apologize for debasing the discussion and lowering myself to his level. I should not have done this.

---
* As a general rule, people should not be accused of committing acts that are currently crimes based solely on their support for legalization, because this blocks reform. Not everyone in favor of weed is a mindless stoner, not everyone in favor of safe abortion is a coathanger-wielding back alley butcher, and not everyone fapping to teenage girls currently has one hanging in xir attic / party headquarters. You shouldn't be judging people for wanting to "get away" with a "crime" based on their speech, you should be judging them for wanting to make the world worse.

Are you a reactionary ideologue?

BTW, does anyone know what percentage of the transgender community actually believes that gender identity = sex?

Can you validate any of these points with direct links, rather than a general link to the account which has close to 40k of tweets? - otherwise its as useful as linking a random youtuber as evidence. Ta!

Perhaps we'd all benefit from taking a closer look at the people we put on pedestals?
I haven't really followed the debate, so I don't know if this link has been posted in some thread already, but this is the Eurogamer article that the dailydot article posted previously is a response to:

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-12-05-troubling-gog-tweets-a-fired-cd-projekt-employee-and-the-spectre-of-gamergate

It's essentially Linko's side of the story. In it he claims—among other things—that he was responsible for the Postal 2 tweet, though he had checked it with a manager before he posted it. He claims he didn't know much about Gamer's Gate at the time he posted the Postal 2 tweet. He also says that CDPR has its own separate staff for handling PR and that he had nothing to do with the "Did you just assume their gender?" tweet.

During his time on GOG's staff, he had started using popular hashtags to raise awareness of GOG, and thus far his feedback had been positive. This was how the #WontBeErased tweet came to be. He says that he hadn't picked up on the connection between #WontBeErased and the actual purpose of the hashtag based on what he saw when he researched the trending hashtag. When he was informed about it, he immediately tore down the post. He had also prepared an apology tweet, but his manager didn't OK it. He was fired over the #WontBeErased tweet. Then people got hold of his parents phone number and started harassing them.

For those of you wondering if GOG is censoring posts telling the "truth" about what happened, you may think of this post as a litmus. It is the only story from someone with actual insight into the events that unfolded that I'm aware of. And obviously Linko is a biased source, no matter if he is wilfully embellishing his story or not, and my little abstract is hardly the best either, so it's probably for the best if you read the article yourself, and make up your own mind about it. Assuming you care enough about this episode, that is.

I havent put anybody on a pedestal. I'm just asking for direct links to evidence, rather than a generic link to nothing in particular.

I think everyone should downvote everyone to create a thread with nothing but hidden comments.

Ok, so he fucked up twice, and GOG lost business because of it probably. They had to save face. I feel with him, but I can understand why GOG fired him. In today's sensitive world, where everyone feels offended by everything, you have to be super careful of what you put out.

We all put people -- or institutions -- on pedestals. Some more so, some less so. So yeah, I think we'd *all* benefit from being more observant and less defensive.

Tell that to the person that thought it would be a good idea to let a noob post on twitter.
