Crosmando: I don't like any of the new Metal Gear games, the series has becoming really "Westernized" since MGS4 (but Snake Eater also had it), MGS 1-2 had that weird Japanese flavor in the weirdness of certain things (Grey Fox, FOXDIE, FOXHOUND, the Patriots, just the mystery that surrounded everything like the Zanzibar backstory, how the Codec system was Kojima's take on Visual novel style dialogue) which the series doesn't have anymore.
I see MGS2 as the climax of the series really, Kojima's style in the game epitomized taking the best cinematic techniques of Hollywood production but with Japanese weirdness in the story. MGS4 was just pure Hollywood and just all around terrible.
Replacing Hayter with Sutherland was the final nail in the coffin, MGS is now a dudebro American franchise.
Have you seen the demo now? The fulton recovery? I think that is japanese enough :)
