I just downloaded the updated Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition Ver 3.0.8.38 game files
and Ver 3.0.8.38 DLCs and went through the installation process but ran into a problem
with the Sam's Story Ver 3.0.8.38 Enhanced Edition installer coming up with an error it
was corrupted.

I have tried downloading it several times over the past few days in case it was a network
issue but of all the files this file is the ONLY one of ALL "Enhanced Edition" game files for
Metro Exodus.

Has anyone else had this problem? Can GOG support please check the installer file for
Sam's Story Enhanced Edition and find out what is wrong with the file, or perhaps the file
checker that is coming up "Corrupted" and fix this problem?

NOTE Here. Both the Metro Exodus Two Colonels Enhanced Edition and the Enhanced
Edition SDK DLCs installed normally. No Errors or issues. Just the Sam's Story EE DLC
has this Corrupted Installer File issue.

I do like to keep my games up to date. Specifically when updates fix bugs and glitches in
the game that can sometimes interfere with the pleasure of playing the game.

Thank you!

GOG knows since february 1st about this Issue and the appropriate department did nothing the last 17 days to fix the problem. They give a damn about damaged offline installers!

Hello again,

Many thanks for the clarification. I have just tested the Enhanced Edition DLCs and indeed was able to recreate the issue.

The issue has now been forwarded to the appropriate department for further investigation.

Sadly I do not have any ETA at this time.

All the best,

This is unfortunate. I was just about to buy this game. Well, maybe another time.

You got the standard support agent response and you're experiencing the standard GOG attitude towards any problem. It's not something specific to offline installers.
Hi mates

Unfortunately I have the same problem. If I install the Standard Edition of Metro Exodus and all DLC's everything is OK (and also playable). If I try the Enhanced Edition, the main program and the DLC "The Two Colonels" installs properly but the DLC "Sam's Story" throws an error (currupt).

I downloaded the three files more than once and retried the Installation - files currupt! I have done a Clean Boot - files corrupt! I logged in as administrator and retried - files corrupt!

It seems the .exe file is corrupt and have to be rebuild or replaced by another copy.

Hello,

I am afraid that there is a known issue with this DLC with the offline installation and the problem is now being investigated by the appropriate department.

As a workaround, would you consider using GOG GALAXY just to install and keep your game up to date? After installing your game you won't have to keep using GOG GALAXY and will be able to simply launch the game outside of the program like you normally would:

The response you got was practically the exact same response I found through the automated chat referred links. So GOG support has reverted to letting the automated system feed us the same script related to one issue. The point the link provides is the "Promise" that the issue is now being "Investigated" by the appropriate Department.

Considering how long it has been since the game "The Long Dark" has been completed from the wish list but STILL has not been made available in the store to buy I am not holding my breath for a fast fix to the corrupted Sam's Story DLC Installer files for Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition. Which is a really crummy shame. GOG Support used to be a LOT better than now.

It may be a bit much asking and expecting them to get back to that level of quality service and support considering the world wide pandemic issues. I am sure they had something to do with reduced support services and direct responses.

We can only hope.. Right?

None of the community wishlist entries for The Long Dark are currently marked as Completed. There was probably at least one before, because the game was either released here or at least had a store page. Nobody typically goes back to "uncomplete" those entries if the game ends up delisted like in this case.

The Long Dark was here for a while but Hinterland delisted it. If there is a "hidden" and complete wishlist entry for it, then it's most likely marked complete because of this. Hell, the delisting might be the reason why the completed wishlist entry is missing from search.

Next time you spot it, bookmark it for us to read.

EDIT: FYI - It was delisted from GOG on November 7th, 2pm UTC 2018. Not difficult to find out since all you needed to do was read its dedicated forum here on GOG. https://www.gog.com/forum/the_long_dark/the_long_dark_removal/post1

Hello Braggardar,

I believe the game you are referring to is the original The Long Dark because the "Completed" I referred to is a very recent date for the newer release of a game by the same title that just last year or so came out on STEAM. The later game has 2 DLCs for it which vary what version of the game you get there since one of the DLCs is included with the upgraded game version because the second DLC came out a little after the game did. The DLC is also mentioned in the later game "Completed" list as well as in other wish list postings.

Until I stumbled over the older game "The Long Dark" I had no idea that it, like the Syndicate game on Origin has a history not unlike System Shock and System Shock 2. With the new release coming out within a month or so by the same title "System Shock".

My present concern is trying to get GOG.com Support to FIX the Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition Sam's Story files so that we can install the updated version with out updated main game. It really sux that they let an uploaded update not be fully vetted before putting it out for gamers to download so that it would not report "Corrupted" as soon as you try to install it.

Anyway... We gotta do what we gotta do..
Looks like GOG finally fixed the corrupted Offline Installer files today.
