Mods are by far one of the most defining features of PC gaming. Their importance to the industry, as well as the consumer, is undeniable. Through the dedication and passion of fans, Mods have shaped the direction of the industry countless times. It’s for this very reason GOG treasures them just as much as the games they’re based from.

In celebration of both mods and our Bethseda weekend sale, we’ve teamed up with NexusMods to highlight some of the best mods for Fallout 3, New Vegas and Oblivion.

, [url=https://www.gog.com/game/fallout_3_game_of_the_year_edition]Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas are three absolute classics. To unlock their full potential we can highly recommend customising your gameplay experience with some of the amazing mods our community has come up with over the years.

Here are just a couple of these - the tip of the iceberg, really - to get you started:

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Immersive Weapons

The mod massively expands the variety of weapons and fully integrates them into the game. You can find them in dungeons, shops, held by NPCs, and as unique quest rewards.

Oblivion Reloaded

Oblivion Reloaded: is a huge project to enhance the graphics of Oblivion by removing several limits and adding a range of new graphical effects. It allows for a much more detailed graphics and enables some features that the base game never supported.

OOO - Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul
This is an extensive overhaul mod that aims to make Oblivion a much more interesting, challenging, realistic, and dangerous place, and also offers great rewards for the daring adventurer - regardless of level.

Fallout: New Vegas

Project Nevada

This mod is suitable for new and experienced players who want a more challenging playthrough. Project Nevada is fully modular so you can install as many or as few of its themed changes as you want. From simple balance fixes to entirely new mechanics - such as bullet time - it serves as a great base mod to build your load order around.

Fallout Character Overhaul

Fallout New Vegas is regarded as one of the best games in the Fallout franchise, but 8 years since release it does start to show its age in terms of graphics, specifically the NPCs. Fallout Character Overhaul changes that by reworking hundreds of NPC faces and makes the important NPCs look a lot more unique. It’s a visual upgrade that doesn’t take anything away from the base game.

New Vegas Bounties

This is the first mod in a series of adventures that adds a series of quests where you can play as a bounty hunter. Your mission is to hunt down the most malevolent and vile assortment of outlaws in the Mojave Wasteland. Be prepared for a challenge though, these scumbags won’t go down easily!

Fallout 3

Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch

This is the essential mod to get you set up for your Fallout 3 adventure including hundreds if not thousands of bug fixes - big and small - made by the community. It comes with an updated, easy to use installer as well.

Fallout 3 Wanderer’s Edition

This is a major gameplay overhaul that improves upon several aspects of the game emphasising immersion, balance, roleplaying and - above all - fun! As it integrates over 50 individual mods into one seamless package, Wanderer’s Edition is a great all-in-one mod to up the ante in Fallout 3.

Fallout 3 Redesigned - Formerly Project Beauty HD

This one gives all the NPCs in Fallout 3 a much needed facelift by redesigning their facial structure to better fit their individual personality and character.

Tauto: Doesn't anyone here know,F3 and FNV can be combined into one game with TTW? How is it possible to go past this mod or not include it?
avatar
candesco: Probably the same as with morroblivion and skywind. Bethesda doesn't approve that. You may make mods, as long as it doesn't change the core and those mods do that. Therefore they are considered as illegal.
Illegal, well would that standup in court? I doubt it.

It obviously would, on copyright grounds. The assets are property of Bethesda/ZeniMax. That's why the mods from TESRenewal only distribute assets made only by their team and scripts/software that does the asset copying in your PC.

Bethesda is not against TESRenewal or similar, they are just against distributing their assets.

It's a very thin line that you are referring too and not worth debating, any further.

GOG.com: OOO - Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul
This is an extensive overhaul mod that aims to make Oblivion a much more interesting, challenging, realistic, and dangerous place, and also offers great rewards for the daring adventurer - regardless of level.
As a big fan of Morrowind, i rushed to buy Oblivion as soon as it was released back then, only to be let down by the immense system requirements (at the time that is) and the whole leveling system thing that broke the whole game for me. OOO mod cranked up the fun to eleven by taking care of the atrocious leveling system as well as some other stuff. Coupled with a more PC friendly UI mod, it's what Oblivion should have been from the beginning. Highly recommended!
No Nehrim (for Oblivion)?
Okaaaaay... (-_-)
Since there is no mention of the 4GB patches is it safe to assume all three of these games have already had it applied to the version GOG supply?

To everyone saying, "Why isn't this mod or that mod mentioned here???": this is not the first mod spotlight GOG has posted for these games. In fact, the previous time they did one was also for all three games together, and was a little more than a year ago (shortly after these were released here). That one wasn't done by Nexus, though, but by GOG's own tech overlord, Thiev. I imagine, though, that whoever wrote this spotlight tried to avoid too many repeat recommendations from last time.
I'm interested in recommendations for a house mod for Fallout 3.

Preferences (from Elder Scrolls, but they should apply for the most part):

1. Mid-sized. Room for the player and a companion, and preferably some room for additional companions/guests, but it doesn't need to be a castle.

2. Low amount of clutter. Preferably static clutter. Shelves filled with actual items are irksome - one bump from you or a companion sends everything flying. I like static filled-bookshelf containers and use them in all of my house mods.

3. Favors containers over shelves. I don't need twelve empty shelves.

4. Not script-heavy. Framerate tanks when walking in = uninstall. Activators for auto-storing ingredients are welcome, but I don't need scripts trying to auto-sort all of my items. Work stations, altars, etc are also welcome.

5. Somewhat realistic. Doesn't need to be true-to-life, but I don't want things sucking me out of the game. Example: "Why is the forge right next to the bed?!"

6. Somewhat isolated but close enough to civilization for convenience. Frostcrag in Oblivion is a good example in this regard. A city home can work for me if it's just right in other ways.

7. Plausible means of acquisition. Nothing fancy required. Spending gold/caps to build or buy, or previous owner is dead, or a short quest, or rebuilding a ruined place with materials, etc. If everything else is right, I can simply roleplay this part.

8. Big bed. Barely enough room for one = no thanks.

9. No mounted animal heads unless appropriate to theme of home.

10. No broken furniture, heaps of trash, etc.

I'm likely to make my own home at some point, as I did for Morrowind and Oblivion, but I'm looking for a quick-fix for now. Any suggestions?

That is why Gog is the best place to buy Bethesda's games because they are sold without digital rights. You can do anything you want to the game. - change the characters, the premise or an entirely new ending. Games without DRM are open to modders and the sky is the limit.
So, F3 and FNV and TTW 3.2 are great together and I am very impressed with the work they done. Just done 2 hour trail and not a glitch/crash and that was with extra mods that were just copied to game.I actually expected it to not even start because I was a bit lax setting up the mods and I doubt they are in the correct order but it works.
