In the Wishlist of games that we all vote for, Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor has quite a number of votes. Recently, a poster who goes by Plainer, stated that they would buy the game, but for now, was able to make a few setting adjustments to allow the game to run on a Windows 11 rig. I am hoping Plainer sees this, or someone who knows Plainer, because I would very much like to know what settings were made to allow this gem of a game to run using the original discs and the 1.4 patch. I can't seem to get it to run, and Plainer apparently does not want unknown messages sent to him/her. If anyone can help, or if Plainer can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanx.

Your best bet is probably to send him a friend invite.
That way, he will get a message that you want to get into contact with him.
Whether he accepts that invitation, is up to him, of course.
But a try can't hurt.

Either click on "Invite to friends" on his account:

or simply click on "Invite to friends" on the drop down menu, that appears when you hover your mouse over his account on the community wishlist page:

Btw: have you checked this already?

I actually have sent an invite once or twice. Unfortunately, no response.

As for the MyAbandonware page, I just tried it again and still got nowhere. I get stuck in the same place and the instructions, while detailed, are a little vague at one point and no matter how many ways I interpret it, I get no farther.
PC Gaming Wiki says all you need for a modern OS is the 1.4 patch. Obviously not saying they know all and see all but it's very rare they're wrong in my experience. Are you sure you used the proper compatibility mode?

Well, that can mean two things, I guess: either he wasn't online since you sent your invitation, and therefore hasn't seen it yet, or he doesn't want to be friends with you (or anybody).
In all honestly: if it is the latter, I can't blame him. I wouldn't accept a friend invite coming out of the blue, either.

temyankee: As for the MyA... page,
I didn't link to that site....I linked to PC Gaming Wiki.
Though, I can see, where your mistake comes from.
Sorry about that. But, I did exactly what your link suggests, which is simply installing then updating to the 1.4 patch. All that happened after that is when I double click in the desktop shortcut, it simply looks like it wants to start, changes the resolution for a brief second, goes to black, then back to the desktop as it nothing happened.
