It's more in tone with the old Fallout games. Personally, i like New Vegas more than Fo3. Insane fun, better story and characters, more about choices and consequences and definitely more meaningful exploring. It's not hiking simulator, but an actual RPG. Which might be to the great dislike of Bethesda's fans.
