Hello there,

I'm looking for old, coarse pixelated games from the 80s and 90s for my girlfriend. She is visually impaired and only has 5% vision in one eye, but also loves playing computer games.
Unfortunately, there aren't that many for her to find and she's mainly played the so-called “match-3” games, i.e. all the thousands of variants where you have to get 3 pieces that have something in common (usually color) next to each other and then they disappear for points.
We were going to look at Steam until I remembered GOG...she especially remembers the good old games (we're both in our 50s) that were playable for her.
I wanted to ask, are there any emulated games from the C64, Amiga or even Atari on GOG? I've already looked at the emulators on the net, but they're far too complicated for her and often don't work properly.
Or other games, with the biggest, simplest graphics possible, like this one, or this one.
We would be grateful if you had any game suggestions for us. Old hands, you are in demand !:)
Sure. How do you feel about old DOS games?

Hmm. It's not available on GOG, but how about "Thomas Was Alone". Simple graphics, includes narration, but a bit on the short side, and, well, I don't know if recommending a platformer is suitable; considering that your girlfriend only has 5% vision in one eye (and nothing in the other...?)

What about genre in general? Does she like old arcade games mainly or are puzzle/point and click/adventure games also in interest?
This site sometimes has those sort of games - giveawayoftheday.com
Maybe something like The Darkside Detective or Timberman?

tons of low res games to enjoy in the fantasy console area.

there's a fullscreen emulator too you can use from web if you dont want to buy the emulator.

Thanks all very much for the answers and hints ! I actually look into them.
Well, she likes more of the easy and simple games with many levels, such as the match-3-games are, or tetris.
What she does not like(because of the little sight she has) is adventure games, where you have to read or walk around and do things.
I think things like pacman or mario bros just not that fast.

Reskal: Hello there,
Please take a look at these

140
Fiendish Freddy's Big Top o' Fun
Theme Park Mystery
Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration
Atari Recharged Bundle
Downwell

They are games with pretty simple mechanics, not too demanding skill-wise, not much on-screen text and offer great contrast on your monitor/screen
