It's a problem caused by Web Media Extensions when Indexing it's enabled, or when Groove Music it's the default app for .ogg files

it's not a problem of antivirus... so remove Web Media Extensions or Groove Music

carnival73: Does Win 10 have an issue pulling large files to hard drive from disc?
Should I break the GOG game into multiple rar files on the discs I back up to?
It can't hurt.

phaolo: I don't have Win10, but here it seems there's some kind of solution for that:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/painfully-slow-file-operations-on-ogg-and-opus/2258df33-7380-43aa-bd5c-2c8053c02ecf
Quite a weird behaviour for an OS, btw..

Not sure if it's the same problem as the OP tho, since he mentioned "large files".
That could simply be an optical drive issue.

Gudadantza: Thanks a lot for the info. I am sure it will be very useful.
Yes, weird behaviour with the ogg files, indeed. I don't know if it can be an OS bug of a collateral effect of other Win 10 features dealing with some kind of audio files.

Greetings.

And not only working with them. I've discovered that in some games containing ogg files as the ingame sountrack to be used with help of some kind of audio wrapper, the results are variable. I mean, tracks not looping, etc. As an example in Fantasy General I use a different set of tracks converted to mp3 and it corrects some problems with the soundtack. Something similar this time a windows title (Warlords 3) and the soundtrack is capable of looping. I guess that the soundtrack in Hexen 2 could be revised. But I am not sure if Those kind of problems are comon for everybody or it depends of the specific OS or computer.
They have released a patch fo fix loop of music in Hexen II but is not working here...

Now, about this stupid problem, i have just removed Groove Music, and i have already removed Web Media Extensions this morning

I will use VLC and Windows Media Player

I will use Web Media Extensions only when will be fixed, and you know already this, will never be fixed....

for all Windows 7 users, this problem happen when Indexing it's enabled for .ogg files too

I disabled the indexing in ogg files, the solution above made sense. Who knows, maybe it will fix as well the weird behaviour into some games as it should do in window explorer.
