Wasn't there an option somewhere in the settings that you could get notified about chat messages and forum replies via e-mail? If so, where do I find it?

I just found out that a generous soul had gifted me a game via PM one month ago, and I never noticed their message, never thanked them, in fact bought the very same game in the sale a few days ago, just because GOG thought that leaving a previously working notification system for your community site broken for weeks was an acceptable trade-off for being able to show off your fancy new menu bar early. Now the gifter might not even be able to get their money back, should they wish to apply for that .... Very disappointed with GOG's sloppiness in this regard.

I'm pretty sure there was a such setting before GOG changed the look of the website. It was really useful.

I didn't know such a thing ever existed. It certainly doesn't now, and hasn't since at least late 2015 (when I first joined the forum).
