You asked this question already, so you're gonna get similar answers - https://www.gog.com/forum/general/is_gog_popular_like_steam

Also, if the launcher does fail, at least you'll keep your games if you backed up the offline installers. That's the beauty of DRM-free.

I'd say almost a dozen people.

given the alt account abuse... make that four!
You are downloading a DRM free game. Not getting life insurance. Your concern is unwarranted.

Now if you were buying a live service game, like The Crew, then yeah it's only a temporary span of time you'd be able to play it. But GOG doesn't sell that kind of stuff.

Funny because a bunch of people here want the launcher to die.

Never worry about whether the launcher will die; worry if you can play your backed-up games without a launcher. If you like Steam, make sure to crack and back up your games.

SecuROM can make that hard.

You got a point there man and I don’t really understand why people would want the launcher to die it’s pretty nice looking launcher in my opinion

I'm not sure exactly what answer it is that you seek, perhaps you could enlighten me - what difference does it make to you how popular GOG is to you, or the current state of the launcher? The launcher is just a piece of software that interfaces with the game, and once they are both downloaded and installed on your system, you own them regardless of popularity or potential future events.

You can download the DRM-free installers and back them up, so that even if GOG dies you can still play your games.
Who cares about the launcher? Just download the regular old offline installers and install that stuff like it's 1995.

Is there any other way to do it?

Yes. Install via galaxy and then backup the installation folder. It's more efficient than the offline installers.

I've counted at least five, me included. I actually counted myself twice because I've bought so many games on GOG.

In essence, the launcher is already dead. It is not a living organism with its own emotions and desires. You can think of the launcher as your boxers; you don't really care if they are "alive" or "dead", and you can do fine even without, letting your willie hang around freely. DRM-freely.
