So I'm looking at Tyranny and it's got a super interesting premise, evil won blah blah blah. I do enjoy this kind of game, like Pillars of Eternity is great! And I do enjoy Paradox games...

But I see that I'm not the only one who's torn on this game. I'm reading that it's fantastic and that it's kinda trash. I hear it's trash due to it's super short time to complete (10-15 hours) which to me sounds okay...

I don't know what to do because it's still a good chunk of change for me but it could be worth it because I do really love CRPG's...

So what do you guys think? Like, is it good or is it bad? Should I wait for a lower price than 30 dollars or is it worth 30 dollars? I can't remember being so torn over a game before.

Personally, I'm waiting for them to release all the content they're going to release for it, then pick it up in the future if they offer a 'complete/ultimate/GOTY' edition.

That's fair... any idea how long that will be though?
I look forward to play it, but it won't work on my laptop, so it will have to wait for a while. I don't mind that much if the game can be completed in just a few hours, as that's the kind of games that I will probably play many times.

If you decide to get the game I hope you enjoy it! :)

Nope, but given Paradox's propensity for DLCs, it may be a while. Hard to say though, as they haven't published a lot of RPGs to my knowledge.
I love CRPGs, but sometimes I wish I didn't have to play 500 hours to reach some kind of conclusion. Honestly, 15 hours is a sweet spot that might lend itself to focussed gameplay, with a high density of quality content.

I haven't played Tyranny, but will buy when all extra content has been released, so this is by no means an endorsement of the game itself :)
I did a blind day one purchase on this one, and I really like the flexibility you get in having skills vs classes, as well as the different approaches you take early on that really make a difference in the story paths. At 30USD it's got a nice amount of replay value and it is short enough that I actually can try different approaches. The combat is easier to manage than pillars too.

Really have my fingers crossed for more from this franchise, it has a lot of threads it could pursue in terms of future story arcs.

Being an rpg, that gives scope for almost endless dlc. Considering other games they have 20-50 dlc would seem reasonable to me, we already have some pictures as paid dlc, so maybe a shiny sword, some horse armour, maybe a manual..
Paradox was not to meddle in Obsidian's affairs, and while this held true for Pillars, apparently they have more pull when it comes to Tyranny. Portrait pack? "Event" pack? Egads. At least there'll be a proper expansion, and hopefully that'll be it. I've been waiting for a PoE Completely Awesome Complete Edition of Awesomeness, but neither party is apparently in a hurry. Oh well, neither am I, so many RPGs to play in the meantime. The point is, don't hope for a Tyranny Completely Evil Complete Edition any time soon either.

As for the length, from the RPG Codex review:

In my first playthrough, I spent somewhat under ten hours in the first act, about twenty in the second, but less than two hours in the third.
It's on my wishlist, but I'm waiting for a bigger discount. Yeah, I know, I'm cheap, but even at -50% it's still rather expensive for me, considering it might turn out to be something I don't like. My experience with such isometric RPGs is mixed, and often runs contrary to popular opinion (for example I didn't like Baldur's Gate, but I liked Lionheart Legacy of the Crusader), so I'd rather not spend more on it then I'm ready to "waste" should it be not my cup of tea.
