Applied card-iology.

Hand of Fate - Wildcards, the first DLC to the intense deck-building action/RPG, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac and Linux with a 50% launch discount.

Dealing with cards is a common but important occurrence in everybody's life. Punch cards, credit cards, super-cool collectible cards - you need to learn your way around them if you don't want to be dealt a fierce backhand. But every once in a while, along come several unpredictable Wildcards - and that's when the real fun begins.

Hand of Fate introduced players to a fresh, engaging way of dungeon-crawling, giving them the chance to carefully build a deck of cards, then see them come to life and act out their effects on the battlefield. Strategizing which cards to use is paramount but don't forget that your skillful input during the action-packed combat can make all the difference between success and failure. Especially now that the Wildcards come into play, offering 9 new Fates, new items, and new Encounter chains that will force you to readjust your roguelike ways if you are to claim victory against the devious Dealer.

Expand your deck-building and reshuffle your combat strategies with Hand of Fate - Wildcards, now DRM-free on GOG.com. The launch discount will last until December 22, 1:59 PM GMT.

Fairfox: Not impressed by the devs on this one; late GOG support for general updates and patches, late support for DLC that's bordering on laughable (plus, as discussed, odd pricing choice for post Winter sale), no soundtrack option (seriously, a zip file with music tracks. C'mon, now. Steam can do it) and no GOG community communication. [...]
I agree.
I am also still waiting for news on the soundtrack. If someone could provide a definitive answer to whether GOG or Defiant Development even has the intention to provide it sometime in the future or not, I could decide on whether to get it on Bandcamp, instead.
Nevertheless, I appreciate that the developer still shows support for his game, even if unresponsive and late, and it is great to have it available here. I just wish he would communicate better with all of his customers and not just the ones on Steam. Writing a few lines of information does not require as much effort as writing thousand lines of code, so the "we are too few"-argument doesn't click for me, either. Given they are their own publisher and therefore are free to choose how to operate on GOG and how to communicate with its userbase, it just appears to me that they don't really see the need to.
How unfortunate. For everyone.

Because keeping things quiet this way sure has driven away some people from playing an otherwise fun game.

The game card is incorrect. It states the release date as December 3rd, when it came out April 17th.

All things considered though, the developer would be lucky to see even a cent from me.
Also, to add some more insult, some of the included dlc (apparently it's dlc) isn't translated (playing in French and those "quests" are in english), also even less good the goblin king 2 one has a choice without any text... that's a bit of a bummer.
Nice to see it here ....

But after no updates for ages gave up waiting and bought it on Steam during the summer sale ...

Same happened with Postal 2 DLC ...

SOrry GOG but you really need to put pressure on your partners to step up there game on not letting you fall so far behind.

Tropico 5 is another case like this for instance ...

vanchann: The discount applies only to the DLC. Is it intentional?

Generally GOG applies a discount to the base game too, when a DLC is released.

Narakir: The game was discounted during the winter sales... I guess its too bad for the developers. Many people would have jumped in if the DLC was also released at that time or if they had communicated that they will release the DLC a week after.
Yes if the DLC had been avaliable (or even just a "coming soon... really") I would have picked it up as I prefer to have it here than Steam ... but oh well ...

For a split second I thought MANOS: The Hands of Fate had arrived on GOG... :/ I know FreakZone games said they submitted it to GOG so I've been hoping it would show up someday.

Wishlisted. Like the main game.
If your going to release a DLC, please discount the main game at the same time. I thought that is would have been the basic thing to do (isnt the first time GOG has done this - discount DLC but not the base game). As it stands, makes it less attractive to potential buyers who is interested in the game first time (GOG has done this with a few other DLC releases previously...)

Fairfox: Oh hey, I have that! It's fun but I could never see it making the jump to GOG; I'm sure they'd deem it not 'worthy' enough.
saw the vids, to bad its 3d and all, personally i think it fits better on gog then then the pidgeon game thats also released
today.
i saw it last year, on steam, i was not impressed, maybe if it had been a more decent adventure game, instead of a silly thing about a dude and pidgeons?

Anyway i think this little Hand of Fate game fits better on GOG.
The only thing thats less is the shiploads of dlc, i been around for a long while and nowadays they make usually one game and 1000s of dlc thats basically continue to build on an existing game, instead of being creative and creat a new game from scratch.
It is ofcourse a lot easier cause you simple limite the main game and all the immediate ideas one would normally put inside the main game, will be distributed evenly acrros some nice dlc.

But putting the DLC issue aside, it still fits the bill better then hatofull boyfriend with his pidgeons.

Marioface5: Better late than never. I'm glad to finally see it here.

For those upset with the developers, and there is good reason to be, I will at least say this in their defense: As far as I know, unlike with The Escapists, there were always plans to bring the Hand of Fate DLC here eventually. I have no idea why it has taken so long though. However, we have been getting the free Winter updates in a timely manner. Not on the same day as Steam, unfortunately, but I believe they've all released on here within a week of showing up on Steam so far. I still don't trust Team17 after the whole ordeal with the DLC for The Escapists, but I'm ready to bury the hatchet with the Hand of Fate devs.

timppu: ^ THIS.

Since it was unclear before if the DLC will come to GOG, I didn't buy the game (from GOG or elsewhere, at least for now).

Now it is back to my GOG shopping list, no problem anymore. The publisher/developer finished their part of the bargain, I will do the same. A bit similar case when Space Pirates and Zombies (SPAZ) developers missed the DRM-free release they had been promising, I also delayed my purchase until that was fixed. Eventually they did. No ill feelings.
Agreed.

I am thinking of a scene where the wife bash the husband to apologize for not buying luxury gift for her. When he did, the wife bash some more and the husband wish he better not make up with her.
Is there a Torgo card now?

Darvond: Is there a Torgo card now?
No --but if you look carefully, you might be able to spot the silhouettes of Joel, Tom-Servo and Crow. :)
