Dear Community,

Thank you for your patience and for giving us the time to investigate the release of HITMAN GOTY on GOG. As promised, we’re getting back to you with updates.

We're still in dialogue with IO Interactive about this release. Today we have removed HITMAN GOTY from GOG’s catalog – we shouldn’t have released it in its current form, as you’ve pointed out.

We’d like to apologise for the confusion and anger generated by this situation. We’ve let you down and we’d like to thank you for bringing this topic to us – while it was honest to the bone, it shows how passionate you are towards GOG.

We appreciate your feedback and will continue our efforts to improve our communication with you.

For work need online mode. But in description - БЕЗ DRM. Не требует интернет-подключения или активации

Why this no count as hate?!

tfishell: Is it healthy to be emotionally invested in businesses?
Generally speaking, I don't think it is healthy to get too emotionally/etc invested in in a business(since a number of them either let their customers/fans down or go under at some point).

ReynardFox: If the biggest supporter of a movement can fail, who's going to try something on this scale again? and how many publishers would be willing to commit to something like that even if someone did try?
Seeing as GOG/etc proved DRM free can be a profitable angle/niche, I believe if somehow GOG/etc did fail, another would take up the "mantle" in due time(or even before said fall/failure, as competition to the one/ones before it).

MysterD: So, great; just great - looks like Hitman 1: GOTY has started a new trend for gimping single-player modes. Ugh.
This has been going on for awhile now.....AAA game companies making extensive MP modes/portions and skimping on SP(like Homefront, which has a measly 4-6 hour SP campaign).

You came to the right conclusion and done the right thing, congrats GOG!!!

I have to reason to buy games on GOG:
1. Support the DRM-FREE cause
2. _Play_ games without any internet dependecies.

thanks!

I'd like to say thank you for standing up for gamer rights and for making the right choice on this issue, which could not have been easy. I say well done!

LONG LIVE GOG!! So say we all!

Lifthrasil: Now please also remove the DRM from the Cyberpunk rewards. You don't lose anything by removing the galaxy requirement, but you'd gain credibility!
There is no Galaxy requirement. CyberPunk2077 plays perfectly without Galaxy installed.

Probably because the online requirement only applies to the optional Eternal Arena DLC, not to the Banner Saga 3 base game itself.
Same thing as with the optional Galaxy-only cosmetic items and the optional Piggyback Interactive map for Cyberpunk 2077. Or the optional multiplayer-only expansions, Two Worlds II: Echoes of the Dark Past & Two Worlds II: Echoes of the Dark Past 2 for Two Worlds II.

They mean to get the cosmetic bonus items.

It's easy to make mistakes but it takes courage to admit them.
I'm glad you did.
My guess is that Hitman GOTY won't return here before years because IO just doesn't want to make their game fully drm-free.
Au revoir, Monsieur 47.

GOOD JOB. Not just for removing it, but also for the apology which though I was never looking for one, I appreciate.
I support this company for years, actively through buying games from here even if I already had them from elsewhere, and by making sure to mention and suggest GOG to people on my youtube, twitch, and twitter channels.

Thank you for both.

I do hope you will manage to bring the game back, DRM-FREE, I would love to buy it like that and give money to both GOG and IOI,.

I never installed Galaxy and never going to. I have Cyberpunk for months now and the game never required the client. I have just the offline installers version.

This one little thing would go a long way towards repairing trust.

Yeah but there are a few items that you can only get with Galaxy and an internet connection that could easily have been included in the offline installers. Not great from a company so closely connected to this supposedly anti-DRM shop.

Were those items only intended to be for people who pre-ordered the game from GOG?

No. Those items were only intended for Galaxy-users.

Nope. They are items in the game locked behind activation online through the Galaxy client. I see them as tiny rewards for the people wanting to use Galaxy. They are also in the Steam version, and tied to another CDPR login to unlock on Steam.

While it is good that GOG is correcting their bad decision, it is belated and should not have occurred.

As others have noted, there is still a long way to go for GOG to regain my trust. @tag+ (#2001) has a good post on this.

I am not mad at GOG for lying to me, I am mad that I cannot trust you to honor your DRM-free slogan. Unfortunately it only seems to be a slogan anymore and not a value that seemed once held by GOG. My biggest problem with GOG that I want to see fixed before I resume buying anything is the ability to buy a game without having to find out second hand "the amount of acceptable DRM that is in a game" (zero for something I buy) before I buy it here. I refuse to use a Steam alternative that requires a client to fully enjoy a game. *Plainly, the ability to know if a game has any DRM features by looking at the game page as setup by GOG without having to read through the comments.
