Somber Echos looks like a Sad Dad version of Metroid, but perhaps someone can tell me otherwise.

I just looked at the screenshots. I don't know if you live in some alternate reality or something, but I don't see how anyone could think this looks anything like Metroid. Reading the description, yes it is a Metroidvania. Do you somehow think every Metroidvania is just a "Sad Dad" (whatever that means) version of Metroid?



This looks pretty decent to me. I tend to like Metroidvanias, usually. Making this Greco-Roman themed is an interesting take. I will toss this in my wishlist for now. Too much backlog these days.

Nah, he's just the "Sad Dad" of the forum giving any number of variations of "I don't like this" for pretty much anything that gets released here. Must be a wonderful life having to feel like one is obligated to shit on everything. I swear he's only sticking around these parts to irritate folks. *shakes head*

Hmm... Visually it is a lady in a fancy suit dishing out pain to those looking for it and the mobs look like they're full blown masochists. But they do seem like they'd be into sweaty, close contact sports so i guess it does have a greco-roman wrestling feel...

I want to point out two things about this one:

- Most helpful review on Steam is a negative one, so be sure to read it.

- Another review praises the game for being "just right" in terms of difficulty and thanks it for not being just another Soulslike.

Reminds me of this. ;-)

It's the level design. Reminded me a lot of the tight spaces of Fusion and Dread. Lots of little platforming challenges that test your mettle.

And the name just screams, "It's not a happy world", which reminded me of Bug Dark Souls: Hollow Knight.

Doesn't look too bad.
