Does anyone knows where to buy an old-school retro PC case, preferably in beige? I was thinking about changing things up a bit with my current PC build, but the only cases I can find online are black and glass, which I find rather boring. There doesn't seem to be much online when it comes to variety, so I hope there are some other options that I don't know about. (Keep in mind that I've already checked basics stores like eBay and Amazon) I would also prefer to buy a new case, rather than an actual old PC case.

*Edit - If you find any other unique PC cases that aren't 'retro' feel free to share them here!

No advice I'm afraid, but to be really retro it's got to be horizontal too! You know, so you can put the monitor on it.

It's sad to see PC case manufacturers take on such a boring, linear approach. All you see are black and glass cases (often with RGB lighting). It would be great to see more unique cases come to market.

Not sure.

But, the PC97 cases might somewhat fit newer boards. I'd expect to do a lot of modding to make it work. And I doubt that you'll be able to put enough fans in there to deal with the heat dissipation issues that you'll have if you're running a new set up in there.

You're probably better off just finding a case and painting it beige rather than trying to shoehorn the stuff into a case that's probably 20 years old and designed for computers with a lot less going on and components in different places.

Probably best bet is eBay and doing something like https://kotaku.com/1995-pc-case-reborn-as-a-killer-gaming-rig-1760984795

Each their own priority. I just care for a solid case, silent enough, with good cooling. And enough space for adding components. Hence I have a Fractal Design R5.

Ow, and dust filters, not being a fingerprint magnet. It should look fine without monthly cleaning (so no window either).

Fractal Design makes some nice, basic cases, but I hope these companies eventually do something different.

There are a few late nineties/early 2000's cases online, but I like the classic 80's design the best. Unfortunately most of these cases have yellowing issues, and would require a lot of modding (as you mentioned in your post).

That's what I've noticed. It's also worth keeping in mind that cases of that era may not be physically large enough to be modded out.

The pizza box style of cases largely went out of favor for technical reasons. They do still exist, but they're a lot harder to use for computers with any processing power. They're mostly used for computers that are just meant to run basic web browsers and office programs. Not anything that requires much power.

But, even if you do manage to find one of that vintage, you'll definitely have to do some modding as the mounting hardware, ports and card slots are unlikely to be anywhere near where you want them.

You'd probably be better off just scratch building one.

This makes me wish that I had a 3D printer to build my own, but sadly they are still too expensive. I can see that someone remade a case for the Apple II on Indiegogo, but [in my opinion] the attached keyboard takes away from the esthetic.

I got a case which automatically opens and closes its vents when it gets too hot and painted it in brown, green and grey camouflage colours. Pretty easy to do and made my pc quite unique.

I think all that paint made it a lot quieter too!
I love Google.

Here is a Steampunk one I found.

Can't get more retro than that unless you add a mouse on a wheel. :D

You could paint plastidip like the LGR guy did on restoring his Win98 pc. Mostly found at auto detailing supply stores and sometimes at hardware stores but with fewer colors.

I have this one:
https://www.zotac.com/download/files/styles/w1024/public/product_gallery/mini_pcs/ZBOXnanoAQ01PLUS_11.jpg
It has the size of a thick CD case. I only use it as an HTPC, running Windows 10 + Kodi 14 (with Sqlite database).
Take an old PC case, like an Optiplex G1.

Take out the guts.

Place new guts inside.

Ta-da!

The link is broken ... =(

I also saw this case on Indiegogo that I thought would be worth sharing!

If you would like a white case, then InWin 101 or 301 might be a good choice, but they still have a glass side panel. I don't think you'll find a beige case, unless it's a custom made or you paint it yourself.
