Crosmando: How many god damn games can they make in the same series with the same character before enough is enough. Just start a new series instead of milking an old one.
Mario, Link, and Samus Aaron step out of the shadows
Mario: "Them's 'a fightin' words, boy!"
All three step back into the shadows

Ha, oh look over there at a whole chorus of Valkyries singing their hearts out!

(Not over till the fat lady sings?)
Reading the thread title made me die a little inside.
Sonic Heroes actually did a pretty good job on delivering on that promise. It was the only 3D Sonic game that actually captured the same feel that the 2D classics had, and transitioned it into 3D form. It was to Sonic the Hedgehog what Super Mario 3D Land was to Super Mario Bros.

And Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was great, even though the physics weren't quite the same.

...Yet honestly, I felt Generations fell short; granted, it could have been a lot worse, but THAT ONE felt very awkward to me despite all the praise it got. Don't get me wrong, it was a huge improvement over Sonic and the Secret Rings, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic '06, but it still felt kind of lacking.

Samus really hasn't been in that many games compared to characters of other series.

Also, how can you forget Rockman, which managed to stay consistently awesome for more than twenty entries? Ten classic games, five X games, four Zero games, two ZX games, and three DASH games. As long as you stay away from the alternate timeline stuff and spinoffs, it's very impressive.

Darvond: That wasn't a joke, by the way.

So, in this topic, I ask you: How is Sega gonna screw it up this time?
By bringing back the 'running left and collecting coins gameplay that everyone loves' while updating the formula for the '10s (however you say THAT out loud!) by removing all of that hitting enemies and loosing rings nonsense which just leads to frustration and 'bad gameplay experiences'?
Oh and, goes without saying - a boat load of micropayments and cosmetic DLC, of course!
Total War Sonic would be something to behold and play. Though I think I'd rather have a Sonic Musou (or Sonic Warriors, the probable name around here in the west).

As for new Sonic being like classic Sonic… I don’t know. They could make it work, but they rarely ever make it work nowadays…
Sonic Generations was overall pretty good and I have heard good things about Sonic Colours. Plus Sega does have some good smaller development teams that have done a good job with some of the ports/remakes of past Sonic games on 3DS and mobile (Sonic 2 Remastered which put back in a level that was incomplete in the original version and the play control was done rather well for a mobile game).
SEGA, I don't care what you do. Just port more games to Android, and please please please, if you're going to port to Steam, don't. Just port to your own website and let people download from your own website like any respectable game company should......

or not.

I'm eagerly awaiting for a Colours HD port to computer... instead we are getting Lost World next week. :/
Sega should let Creative Assembly create the new Sonic games. :P They were successful in reviving Alien series.

IronArcturus: We need the classic Sonic games on GOG! C'mon, Sega!
Why? Most of the carts can be had for less than what GOG could afford to sell them for. These aren't exactly obscure games, they're likely the first games that people think of when they think of Sega. It's not hard to find some of those games for less than $5.
