Diablo 3 does not seem worth buying, always online left me always irritated.
never give up, you hear me? never! don't even consider this weaklings' way.
Ok, so far this has not been explained, so for those who don't know - Blizzard royally ticked off Diablo fans, especially Diablo 3 gamers.

Blizzcon that year was supposed to have a huge Diablo related announcement, and they got a bunch of people travelling all the way there, buying tickets, buying virtual passes to watch the show etc. basically making a huge deal out of it and profiting from it.

Then the announcement was a mobile Diablo game...yeah. Diablo Immortal or some nonsense.

Then a Blizz rep was addressing a room full of disappointed fans, and went 'Do you not have PHONES??'. It became the favourite phrase for disgruntled fans.

Many left Blizzard games that night - it was a total slap in the face after a year or two of neglect of D3 already. I was actually one of them, haven't logged into BattleNet for a couple years or so now.

Path of Exile is superior in all aspects anyways. Apart from the multiplayer teamwork.

Yeah, what a way to discover that Activision-Blizzard is a big money making corporation and not your fuzzy little friend!
Does anyone know of Diablo alternatives that are here?

Lucumo: Probably because it has become a garbage company that stopped making good games after the acquisition, has terrible business practices and also sues and/or pressures people and companies, putting people out of jobs as well as destroying fan efforts? Those seem like good enough reasons at least.
avatar
teceem: That describes (almost?) all big game publishers.
That's a good enough reason for a boycott and this company went the extra mile to harm customers over multiple games.

Excluding the suing and pressuring people (including fans) part, yes.

I guess it shouldn't have come as such a 'shock', and that they would be so brazen about it. To be fair, up until that point, Blizzard still had a very good reputation and people enjoyed their games and their services. Diablo 3 was the most succesful PC game for some years in terms of revenue, and even though many were disappointed, it still had quite a following.

Some believed the Activision acquisition wouldn't affect things too much. To this day, it's unclear whether it was Activision's influence or Blizzzard itself, that made it go 'full retard' commercial on us. Instead of focusing on good quality games and services, and instead giving us awful rip-offs.

Other big gaming companies aren't doing that? Are you sure about that?

I'm not going to Nintendo a list, but I'm sure there are other ones...

This https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blitzchung_controversy was the reason for the boycott.

Does it matter? Microsoft was never bought, but what does it still have in common with Bill & Steve working in their garage? ;-)

Really? Oh. Oops.

Not sure if OP clarified that somewhere, but if so, oops.

Without veering off into politics too much, to me it seems like singling out a company for a very common response to the Hong Kong situation at the time. I mean, if you want to boycott Blizz, you need to boycott 90% of (gaming) companies...

I guess for the consumer/gamer, it doesn't matter at the end of the day. Still, it would be nice to blame the big bad corporation for Blizzard's demise, and wish and hope there is some remnant of ye old' greatness of yore at Blizz.

Breja: That depends. Do you have a spine?
I do. But I'm not sure where I put it.

That explains why the OP isn't elaborating. Is he hoping that we're going to venture into politics here?
I don't care about (e-)sports; that's all I have to say about it.

I just assumed people who were asking were trolling. The banning of Blitzchung seemed be the biggest news in gaming last year. I'm not even much of a Blizzard fan. But talk about it seemed to be everywhere.

I'm mostly familiar with Torchlight 1&2. Played a little of Borderlands 2. And I've recently gotten into Titan Quest. I've also heard that Nox is very good.

I wanted to play the one that started it all. But I waited till it was on sale (I try to be thrifty when I can) then the Blizzard boycott started and I changed my mind.

Grim Dawn and Torchlight 1 and 2 are on GOG. If you are interested in that.
