Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Ixamyakxim: *sigh* Maybe next week.
Why give up so soon? The Keaneversary is on 13 November.

Ixamyakxim: *sigh* Maybe next week.
Or maybe tomorrow (Wednesday), as last year the promo started on a Wednesday.

EDIT: And as the cat said above, there's always November 13. :)

I was hoping tomorrow, but I thought there might be a hint by now.

19 days left in the month, and figuring that the 26th would be the outside as far as start points go. Insomnia would either be done or almost done by the 1st of December, so there'd still be roughly 2 weeks as a buffer between that and when Winter stuff tends to start.
Oh what the heck, you two convinced me not to give up just yet! Now excuse me, I have to go sneeze loudly somewhere...
Last year it started on Wednesday the 13th... so tomorrow is the likely candidate I would say.
One thing I have noticed is that new releases and sales seem to have slowed a little. The french promo was good but no new release today and stuff like 50% off Sometimes Always Monsters makes me wonder if GOG isn't holding up deeper discounts for an insomnia sale.

It's a solid premise allowing a limited amount of titles go on discount so publishers would agree to steeper cuts than normal. However, now that TET is gone maybe GOG's marketing plan has a different focus.

Also, the Halloween sale had a number of items that seemed like natural fits, items that were on sale via alternate outlets at the time, but were omitted. Might be nothing, might be part of the scenario you just described.

Additional - It has to be said, T is definitely missed. He had real energy and enthusiasm, and he conveyed it well.
It feels like Judas is essentially the face of the company now, at least when it comes to actually interacting with people on a day-to-day basis. He's attached to the updates, the hints, he's the one who seems to inevitably take a fair bit of heat when he can't tell people what they want to hear.

I have high hopes for tomorrow and for the 13th! However, Spring Insomnia started on a Monday (May 12). So I wouldn't exclude the next Monday (November 17) as a possible candidate, since it'll be the first Monday following the anniversary. After that, there'll be no real hope left, I'm afraid.
If GOG initially expected the Fall Insomnia sale to last longer than it did maybe they anticipated it would run into late November so now knowing the sale may be quicker it might make sense for them to delay so they overlap with a target date or seasonal buying frenzy (which was maybe the original intent if Insomnia had not been so popular).

I'm still hopeful.

GOG know that we are waiting for news on this, and that many people may well be holding off on purchases due to the Insomnia sale. I think if it was a definite "no" right now someone would have come on to say it's not in the pipeline for the immediate future... then people will at least feel safe to spend money again.

I sincerely hope that if it ends up not happening, and GOG knows for certain that they don't intend to do it, that they will put out some kind of communication to let people know.
I'm doing exactly as you said, retaining money I would've at least partially used on the last couple promos, in order to have more for Insomnia. It'd be counterproductive of them to not say something (and honestly, more than a little frustrating if we all end up ultimately being strung along because no one at GOG Central with the authority to do so was willing to just put it out there. I don't mind being a cheerleader, but waving these gods-damned pom-poms is going to feel a little silly if everything was dead in the water from the start).
