Alexim: I just noticed that The Walking Dead: The Final Season is the only recent title of Telltale Games that doesn't have the achievements on GOG, if this isn't an error in the gamecard it could have been a sign of the end.
LOL
There is more happening on this, when they laid off 100+ prior to closing down they violated local and federal labor laws. This could get ugly for them, failry quickly if they cant defend agaisnt this claim.

There should be more to a game than just dumb achievements (oooh, I walked 200 steps, yay me, I should get an achievement).

I'm not sure why you're so hostile over some jpg files.
He just attempted to make a correlation of missing features to a rush job so they can get as much money before their number on the dance floor ended.

I know the way Achievements are infantilized, What I'd like to see for an achievement is:

I Took down THE ARMY, THE NAVY, THE AIRFORCE, THE COUNTRY and THE WHOLE MOTHERF**KING WORLD with a TOOTH PICK and an ADULT NOVELTY ITEM !!!XDXDXDXD!!! achievement unloxxored.

This is currently true for GOG as well. We'll update users as soon as we hear anything, all we can do is ask for patience while things become clearer.

Sorry, didn't mean to come across that way.
It just baffles me why some people put more focus on weird achievements, than on the actual game.
And it really frustrated me when people make out a game isn't worth anything because it has no achievements.

+1

I can see absolutely nothing positive about "achievements".
They are distracting and disrupting game flow even for those of us, who never care to achieve anything. Most of the achievements are also pointless, and if there's something to actually achieve, you can do that in-game.

A good example is Max Payne. If you manage to play the game through at hardest difficulty, you will get an alternative ending and a gallery showing the development team. Makes much more sense than some trophy icon on Steam page.

I totally agree I HATE ACHIEVEMENTS I was halfway through half life 2 episode 2 when I saw this little square pop up in the lower right corner (this is when shteam achievements were brand new and just came out) I said aloud "Oh god PLEASE DO NOT LET THAT BE" and yes it was F**KING ACHIEVEMENTS.

I really hate achievements if you didn't know by now.

Thanks for the info!

I really hope we'll get at least the two episodes.

Thanks for posting this. I am sure GOG will handle this matter fair - you did in the past - when you finally have all the information you need. I also hope GOG won't try the "you bought this 31 days ago so no way" clause in that case - if you know what I mean ;)

I am also not so amazed by achievements BUT nobody said that those who like them are ptutting more focus on the achievements than on the actual game. For most of them it is simply additional game value and more replay value. Yes, it is completely artificial (I could do the same by writing those achievements on a piece of paper) but if they do enjoy them - why not? I cannot understand people who are hating achievements as long as you are able to tuen them off. I don't care much about them - especially in adventrure games when the achievement simply is that you played a bit more of the game - but that's about it.

I bet it was possible to turn them off for all games even back then. So no need for any hate :)

user deleted: gogie hav no reason to refund peeps
steamie probs wont
avatar
MarkoH01: You are dead wrong here. This is no kickstarter. GOG sold people buying into this a game consisting out of 4 episodes - it's still listed this way on the store page even though they know that the future of the game is at least uncertain.

"About: Includes access to all 4 episodes (Episodes 1-2 available now, Episodes 3-4 coming soon). "

So yes, they have every reason - in fact they are legally obligated to do a refund in case people would demand a refund (and it is sure that they will only get half of the game).

avatar
Bloodygoodgames: And it's certainly not GOG's fault. So they shouldn't have to lose money on the deal.
avatar
MarkoH01: Ethically speaking you are correct. Legally speaking the contract you made is between you and GOG. You never made a contract with Telltale.

In the end however I am pretty sure GOG will find a way to compensate buyers of the final season in one way or another. They mostly are nice when such things do happen. Just remember the No Man's Sky scenario.
Very true!

I just feel sorry for GOG, if it comes down to some kind of refund or compensation. As they don't deserve to be out money due to Telltale Games management's abysmal business skills.

Also true. Then again it is the same with every regional priced game. The wallet funds GOG are offering for those they have to pay by themselves. They simply decided to treat us GOGers as fair as possible. That is one reason why I will stay loyal to them.

Darvond: Good news! Class action lawsuit.

Even if Telltale wins, the legal fees are likely to put a crimp on those remaining projects.
avatar
paladin181: Yeah. Class action suits are a scam. The lawyer takes some huge % (sometimes upwards of 50%) and the winning plaintiffs get pennies on the dollar for what they're actually owed.
Yep. I joined one once against an insurance company that ripped its customers off of millions of dollars. If I remember correctly, I finally ended up with a check of around 35 bucks.

Not even close to the amount of money they had scammed me of :)
