It's starting soon, so here is a thread for it. I know there are plenty of fans here.

The team I support didn't qualify. Neither did Ireland. Looks like I'll be supporting Poland this time.

There is also a prediction competition thread if anyone wants to join:

I will root for Argentina like always, if I stay in my restaurant job by then, I'll be forced to watch it daily (not a big fan of football or pretty much all sports)

Didn;t know it was going to be in Russia this year.
I don't have a horse in the race, and even if I did it would be a lame one, but I LOVE THE SPECTACLE OF THE WORLD CUP and I can't wait. I don't care who wins, I just love to watch the games and feel that electricity.

Now a couple of Cups ago I noticed what seemed to be worse diving than I have every witness before and it ended up ruining a lot of the games, but, unless I'm mistaken, that was cleaned up a little for the last Cup. There will always be guys going down screaming when the nearest defender is ten yards away, but nothing like eight years ago.

Let's hope he don't have a rehash of that.
Obviously I support my country, but in these areas we are not being very optimistic about the possibilities we have of winning the world cup.
Hoping for England to do fair, mostly down to the young team. All I really want is good football without any crowd trouble or drama. World cup fever is always cool to get caught up in!

Oh, you mean they made it this time?

Now hey! It's the Euros in 2008 we missed out on! Not the World Cup!

You're talking to an American.
A group of English toddlers on Dramamine could kill our national team.

But on a serious, to everyone, I know who the classic favorites are, but is there a clear favorite this tourney? Any major upsets to look out for?

Germany, Brazil, and France look strong on paper. Great squads filled with quality.

I feel like Egypt, Croatia and Denmark may surprise people.

Belgium has a great squad, but tend to be hit or miss!
I doubt we (Serbia) will pass the group stage but if we manage somehow we would face Germany in the next round. To me they are one of the favorites along with Brazil, Argentina, France and Spain. Since my wife is Spanish i'll be cheering for them as well jajajajajaja. xD
Harry Kane is prepared: http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-headlines/nobody-offended-by-harry-kanes-world-cup-group-stage-june-18-tattoo-20180530173654
Germany is my favorite as always. That said, I'll be cheering for Iceland. ;) Hopefully Brazil does better this time around. They should have never gotten as far as they did during the last world cup. That game against Germany was just sad.

Mr.Mumbles: Hopefully Brazil does better this time around.
It will be hard to do worse.
