It's a sequel, not a remake, which in the glory days of mainstream film-making could've inspired some interest and hope of something worthwhile. Not now though, it's all a race for quick cash-ins of brands that once did well, because no-one in Hollywood sees the merit of producing an original quality film anymore. After that atrocity that was Prometheus, it was so clear that Scott was done - and the bland, nothing-happens trailer for this shows it too I think. Someone tell him to his face.

Let's keep some hope (even if a small one). It's not Scott who's directing this - he's only the producer.
And Rogue One didn't come out too bad. It managed to be far better than Episode VII IMHO. Maybe such a miracle could occur again.

Ah OK, Denis Villeneuve has directed Sicario, which was quite well done. The trailer for 2049 doesn't grab me at all though. I mean, you placed it in the miracle category, and I have to agree it's that slim a chance I believe. Gosling on top doesn't feel right in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, like you I'd love to see a quality continuation of the masterpiece that Blade Runner is. I just believe we very likely won't be happy with the outcome.

MaGo72: Ryan Gosling? As a Blade Runner? Meh. I think Tom Hardy would have fit better in that role or Ryan Phillipe, I liked his role in Way of the Gun.
I liked Way of the Gun too. This Blade Runner won't be an automatic yes for me, based on Ridley Scott going off the rails, but if the buzz is good I'll be there.

Unless we make it a Kickstarter campaign. The highest tiers get to have a conversation with their replicant, right before having the life squeezed out of them -- you can miss out the last bit, though. Might ruin the marketing side of things. :-P

Well, technically, only once. Kubrick sent us to Jupiter, whilst Clarke sent us to Iapetus, a moon of Saturn, in 2001. Jupiter in the film, Iapetus in the book.

It all got fused together in 2010, where it was all Jupiter.
