Basically the single player is a completely separate thing now, 30 hour long RPG with Gwent for combat.

Pretty sure, that had been announced for ages now. Unfortunately, Thronebreaker will be victim of the upcoming Gwent overhaul.

Not really. It was announced as a single-player DLC for GWENT, not a standalone game.

According to Thronebreaker's GOG page it's not standalone:

"TO PLAY THIS ITEM YOU ALSO NEED: GWENT The witcher card game"

Which is an on-line game that needs Galaxy.

They haven't updated the page yet.

A single player campaign, where you aren't dependent on your Gwent card collection? Now THAT sounds interesting.

I just want to play my complete game. I don't want to grind for gold, to open random packs, to play your 2-3 hours long, meta humor filled, singleplayer content BLIZZARD!!! Oh... I started rambling there.

It is one of the things they have discussed/proposed.
Afaik it is not for certain at all that this change will come.
And if it does it will have so many other gameplay and card overhauls that you really can't call it "gwent with 2 rows".
I still hope that we get to keep the 3 rows.

Don't worry, for the longest time, I hoped it was just a rumor, but nope. The real punchline is the reasoning behind it: the card art on the board became so small, that for a future mobile port, they had to rework the board design. And that was their go to choice.

How is a CCG now an rpg? Even witcher 3 isn't an rpg. It's a single player mmo. Not to mention Gwent is the second biggest abomination on the site for bringing always online in, hence I wouldn't touch it for free.
