75% off Double Dragon Trilogy, Tex Murphy, Subject 13 and more...

Ah yes, Autumn, an epoch of elegance at this juncture of seasons. Fall's stuck-up cousin, thinking it's all better and fancy. Well... maybe there is some merit to it. It's a refined term, sophisticated even. A seasoned relic from a different time. How appropriate then, that this weekend's games are the Antiquities of Autumn.

The Double Dragon Trilogy is retro arcade beat-em-up come home. Your home. Return to the days of "Game Over. Add Credit?", awesome co-op (powered by GOG Galaxy no less), high skill ceilings, and sometimes enemies that are just unreasonably cruel.

Tex Murphy is a series of games with all the retro design you can eat: FMV sequences, pre-rendered backdrops, and live actors aplenty. It's the story of a P.I. with a knack for trouble. In the words of Tex's designers themselves: He’s just an average guy… sometimes a little below average. He’s always in the middle of something that’s way over his head, but as he says: ‘Danger’s like jello – there’s always room for more’.

Developed by Paul Cuisset, the man behind titles like "Flashback", "Future Wars: Adventures in Time" and "Moto Racer", Subject 13 may be recent release, but it's all about classic point and click gameplay and brain-twisting puzzles.

Join us in an appreciation for the Antiquities of Autumn, with 75% off 30+ classic, and perhaps underappreciated, titles. The discount will last until November 25, 4:59 AM GMT

serpantino: Does the double dragon trilogy still install/require galaxy?

I don't want galaxy.
It does for multiplayer at least.

Impaler26: Nothing for me in this promo. Must save my money for the x-mas sale. :D
same here ... but i dont think there will be anything i havent got already, since i cant play 3d games (already explained why) it seems i have all the possible games i can play already, maybe if braveland release a new game, number 4 or so, or games like that then i be buying these :D

There are still lots of 3pp games out there, funny thing is, most of the companies who have these are already on GOG
secreftiles, like i mentioned before steam has all, and gamersgate aswell, they are at sales very often, 9.99 is the list per game, and if i am correct and they usally sell it at 5 or 7 euros during sales..
So if gog could convince the guys to do away with DRM (tages/steam) then the games can be run on win Xp and up.
They have more 3d games.

These secretfiles are on my topwishlist.

when i bought the game it did not, but i dont use the multiplayer, so i dont know if it needs galaxy now if you only singleplay it.

Decent promo. Can recommend Tex Murphy games and both Syberias for P&C lovers.
And maybe also Robin Hood worth to play.

JKeift: my Packard Bell PC (Pentium 1, 75hz, 16MB of RAM, 600 MB HDD).

vv221: I guess you meant 75*M*Hz, or you would have some diffculties to run any game on it ;)
Oops, you're right! Although, now that you mention it, I DID have some trouble running MegaRace, specifically the FMV cutscenes. It was probably because my CD-ROM drive was too slow, though...

Maxvorstadt: (..) In school we also learned autumn, but here on GoG they always used fall instead of autumn, that`s what confused me now. :-)
<dictionary>
fall = AE
autumn = BE

Please bring those games to GOG!

By that I mean the original version of Flashback, not the awful remake.

gamesfreak64: 600 mb HD in the p60 area? i also never saw any drive that large in that time.
Must be a typo, cant remember drives were that big and i been around since the 286 we used that shites at school, horrible things.
I even got my wp5x certificate and lotus 123 ... on a 486 on dos and win3.11, horrible stuff :D, drives werent that large though, so 600 mb is a big no no :D
My dad bought our family its first computer in January of 1995, and its hard drive was 500-some megabytes...which turned out to be only kind of average-sized (or slightly above-average), and was already a bit on the small side a year later. 600 MB and 16 megs of RAM probably would've been more than the average computer user had at the time, but for a gaming setup, it was probably not uncommon.
Great promo .

ok, thanks for the explanation.
i myself had no hd that size so thats why i assumed they made a 'typo'.

yes original please, remake is horrible and is doing the orginal wrong, remake should not have been made, personaly i saw many remakes that dont justify the originals, these are only a shame on the game.
99% is 3d engined most of the time so its destroying all the things the original had.
I know nowadays we have super computers, but that should not mean all things have to go using a super 3d engine. :D

NuffCatnip: Im interested in the Atlantis games. Do I have to play the first game/s to understand whats happening in the second/third game ?
Are they good, as in, are these generic puzzle games or rather unique ? (gameplay, story etc.)
Oh, and my last question is, how long are these games ? I dont want them to be too short (1-3 hours), but they shouldnt be too long as well (13+ hours).
I like the games, but they are kind of an acquired taste.

The first one has no saves and many clunky timed sequences. Though it's so pretty that I cannot help to love it. There is also some welcome humour.

The second one is really open, really pretty and too difficult.

The third one they say it's easy.

I got them through a Groupees bundle, one of the better ones they offered.

EDIT: sorry, about the length, it's the average adventure one, around 15 hours i'd say. Maybe 20.

I don't want galaxy.
No, it doesn't install it anymore, but it's necessary if you want online multiplayer (you can still play local multiplayer without Galaxy).

omega64: It does for online multiplayer at least.
Fixed it for you. You don't need Galaxy for local multiplayer.

Wasn't aware it had local.
When will Gog release Return to Mysterious Island 2: Mina's Fate ?
