Just as the title says. I am curious about the best wallpapers available as extras here on GOG. I do keep a folder for them whenever I discover a new one I like, and I was wondering which ones other people liked. Personally I really like the Gabriel Knight ones (the first, second and the 20th anniversary edition of the first all look great).

I guess in this day and age, including a wallpaper isn't so special anymore, and you can always find them online elsewhere, but there is something I enjoy about the included extras, whenever they are available.
I'm particularly partial to the Demon wife in King's Bounty. Here's a mini version.

Edit: seems everyone's putting bigger versions on.

I played Armored Princess years ago, but I have to catch up with the rest of the series, so I hadn't taken a look at these yet, thanks!

I am downloading both the game and the extras now, so I might give a try to the game itself in the near future. :)
Hard to name absolutely the best one, but I just seem to like the color scheme and aesthtics in the Cyberpunk 2077 wallpapers.
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun comes with great wallpaper material. I have been using mood-bridge.png as the wallpaper of my main computer for years, and I do not plan on changing it anytime soon.

Good topic, I'm too lazy to check them out myself. For years now I have minimalistic one from Deus Ex.

Might be pretty boring but looks good and I like them clean, simple and not distracting.

Well, it doesn't have to be the absolute best, any favourites will do, really. I am familiar with the one with the Cyberpunk logo and a neutral background (which DOES look good), but I am not sure I know the others.

They do look pretty cool! I The character paintings are also great, now that I am looking at them.

Often I do the same, after all you also have your icons on top of the background. Recently I am trying to pick more varied options, though, which is partly why I started the thread.
Let's see, I have 400+ games on GOG, but only managed to find a few games I felt had wallpapers worthy of taking home, so let's see...

Space Colony HD: The one that's basically just a zoomed out screenshot.
Myst: This one is obvious, but I don't think I got it from GOG. The viewscapes of the old rendering is just je ne sais quoi; very good.
Trine 2: These are some nice landscapes. I like them.
Fez: These are colorful and nice; while not being so obvious as to their nature.
Race the Sun: One of them is a pretty amazing flag, the other is a pretty nice logo wallpaper that actually blends with the wallpaper.
Xenonauts: A nice picture of Earth and a satellite.
Trine: More landscapes.
Parkitect: While the game runs like an old ass, I can say the artstyle is pretty charming and makes for nice diorama shots.
SimCity 3000: It's literally just a couple of CG renders, but hey.

But honestly? I don't like how GOG does wallpapers. A lot of them are, lacking a better phrase, too obvious? Big ass logo somewhere, often with a character or something that screams, IT'S A GAME a bit too loudly for my tastes. Contrast wallpapers from Nintendo, which often just have a simple watermark in the corner, well outside of focal range.

I'd show you a wallpaper that I really like; of the SimCity 2000 cover upscaled and beautifully scanned across, but it's a nice 7.8 MB. That's great for Discord but [glares at 500 kb upload size.] The only way it'd obviously be from a game is if you spotted the Maxis logo on their UFO.

With that I totally agree. Many times this is actual nice picture but logo makes it look like free promo material rather than "exclusive" bonus for game I bought.

And honestly, I've found better game wallpapers on danbooru. Being able to specify within very specific ways helps clear a lot of the clutter, but sometimes I do just browse. Visual novels and mobile games often have beautiful backgrounds well beyond their actual need of role.

Huh. Never thought that would be a place for such as it seems to be more of a site for certain kinks. *shrug*

Honestly, it's not so kinky. Though Danbooru in particular is an anime image archive, with a rather strict definition towards that end, and something that might even be considered curation.

Kinky, I would suggest is more befitting places like DeviantArt, monosodium, and maybe Eka's.

I like/use wallpaper #5 from Age of Wonders 3 on my phone. Attached is a reduced quality copy.

That's interesting. I went over my game library and noticed that Shadow Tactics has wallpapers, but I figured those must surely be some shots of the characters. Very moody backgrounds indeed!

On topic: for a long time I had a wallpaper of Lara Croft hanging at the side of cliff atop a jungle.
Regrettably the only Tomb Raider game I own on GoG does not have wallpapers! :/
Seems like half of the Tomb Raider games do have wallpapers and half does not. The one I have happens to be in the ''does not have'' category. Just my luck.

But there must be some good wallpapers in the games that I have... let's see... what can I offer you... Witcher 2 will have to do.
