tinyE: Am I crazy or do "good" (yes that's subjective) sci-fi shows not stand a chance on the major networks? The really good ones need time to develop a fan base and that's why the good ones that have flourished have seemingly only done it on the 'lesser' networks. I may be totally wrong but I think of shows like Farscape and Stargate which flourished thanks to the Sci-Fi network. Going back, X-Files never would have gone beyond one season had it not been on the new and fledgling FOX network where it was given time to flourish. It seems if a good show doesn't pull in the numbers that a piece of shit like "Two Broke Girls" gets then they immediately chuck it.

Fesin: Sadly, Almost Human is doing pretty bad, in regards to number of viewers.

I hope Fox doesn't cancel it and gives it a chance, since they got already a decent fandom built up as well starpower and a lot of hype. They also supported Fringe for 5 seasons, even though it did miserable, something I still am thankful for.
Really? Perhaps due to police element its overshadowing sci-fi element? So far I saw 2 episodes, and I like it, although as I appoint before, I just hope they don't focus too much on police-crime topic, there are too many series about it.
The 5th episode has been a real let down for me. That psychic and holographic things felt really bad.
Anyone else who is desperate for scifi shows like this from ep 1?. Im not particularely cerebral but i do enjoy this show as it is.

Sidenote.. are there any other actually good scifi type shows floating around????.

Good shows period have no chance on major networks. Most people seem content with Survivor, American Idol, and other stupid reality shows. They've killed a lot of shows I have been interested in these past two years.
I haven't watched Almost Human, yet, all episodes are sitting on my DVR unwatched. I will probably wait for the end of the season, before I watch, to see if it gets picked up for another season.
I've become very disinterested in TV shows lately. BBCA had some promising shows, but they are canceling them for reality bull shit as well. My only hope is with Showtime and HBO...everyone knows how short promising HBO series last though (Deadwood, Rome).
Maybe it will be great when all the channels start showing Reality TV 24 hours a day. It will save me a lot of money on my DirecTV bill.

The closest to good scifi that comes to mind is Doctor Who or Continuum.

Otherwise you have your less than stellar scifi
Defiance

Also matters what you consider Sci-Fi. It seems like sci-fi has been bastardized to include ghosts, aliens, and bigfoot now a days. But none of those shows could even be considered mediocre.

everyone knows that stuff is Supernatural :D. But yes.. seems like scifi shows are few on the ground (not big fan of Dr Who). Will look into Continuum i guess

I haven't seen it so I'm not entirely sure, but isn't Under the Dome sci-fi?

No sci-fi in that one except for the dome (i guess).
Oh, one thing I have to say though: The intro is really, really stupid and pretty bad.
I'm liking it so far.

the world feels very "Ghost in the Shell" to me, I just hope it can live up to that.
I wanted to like this show, and both the leads are good together imo,t here' snothing wrong with their characters or acting.

However my issue is that it just seems to be going for more of a "individual" episode type of generic "cop" show (which we already have MORE then enough of).

They could have made this show something special, going the route of shows like Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, etc making it an actual story-based show that builds up with each episode, but it seems the show is mostly filler episodes with only a drop of anything revelant and the whole backstory of the guys girlfriend and who killed his partner is not at all interesting or built up that well.
I did'nt see the show but I heard that FOX is airing the episodes in the wrong order. It happend with Firefly, too. I don't think that's a coinsidence.

There's no proof of that. People assume it because the second episode that was aired was the fifth in the production codes, but that doesn't really mean anything. Episodes aren't produced in the same order they are aired.

Maybe. I did't actually see it so I wouldn't know. I just read about it. http://www.tvovermind.com/almost-human/fox-get-together-stop-airing-almost-human-order-224621
