Someone wake up on the wrong side of the rock? Some people are new to digital distribution, or have only dealt with Steam. For a very large amount of the gaming population, Origin, Steamm, and Uplay are the "big names" that sell their own games. To such people, every other digital distributor they've been in contact with have likely been little more than Steam key sellers. Hell, even Uplay sells steam keys. Digital distributors are nothing like car companies which sell only what they produce.

Also, you may want to shut down Steam manually before powering down your PC (instead of letting the shutdown procedure take care of everything) to prevent your non-Steam games from being deleted from the list. It happened completely randomly to me a few times, and it may have been fixed by now, but better safe than sorry. You get used to it very quickly anyway.
