I tried Shadowgrounds co-op before. It just wasn't very fun. I can't remember why, maybe it was the camera (I highly suspect it's the camera), but yeah my brother and I didn't enjoy ourselves and we quit after a while.

Shadowgrounds itself is boss though. Just didn't much like the co-op.

Leroux: I'm looking for PC games to play with a friend in the same room - so either on the same desktop computer or, when connecting via WLAN, netbook-friendly (so no MMOs or 3D shooters). Preferably something lighthearted and funny, maybe Jump and Run, Fighting, Kart Racing, Puzzle etc. (Indies welcome, as is Freeware!)

Has anyone ever tried Gibbage by the author of Time Gentlemen Please? What about Guilty Gear X2 #Reload - can you play that against each other, and if so which control setups are possible (same keyboard, or keyboard and controler?).

I have PS controllers and would be willing to get an USB adapter for them, if there are any good games that make it worth it.

I'm grateful for any suggestions and advice, thanks! :)
PMed you!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, and also to Joel from Frozenbyte for replying about your game in person. That's good customer service! :)

We've had fun with Gish and Jamestown tonight, even though the latter sports some questionable design decisions, forcing you to replay levels in different difficulty modes in order to continue the story campaign ... But apart from that it's a very enjoyabe co-op game, highly recommended.
Alien Breed (the original series)

Alien Breed (the new versions)

Originals are here on GOG.com and new versions are available on STEAM.

I would also recommend The Chaos Engine but this is nowhere to buy. :((( Maybe GOG.com will do something about it. ^_^

Magicka is totally ace, although it's kinda unplayable hotseat - should work out great on WLAN, though.
Rayman Origins
Dungeon Defenders
Bionic commando REarmed
Burnout paradise
Deathspank series
Magicka
Street Fighter 4
Beat Hazard
Audiosurf
Shatter
Serious Sam 3(can turn off all violence)
Trine 2
Btw, is there any difference between gamepads depending on the games? Could I use PS2 controllers for all games that allow gamepads or should I expect compatibility issues with some? (I've never used gamepads on the PC before and would need to buy an USB adapter for my old PS2 controllers).

im just puttig it out there, it takes a long time to do but can be done on 1 machine.

Lords of the realm (available at your friendly GOG.com)

you can have 1 player VS 5 computer up to 6 players and no computer. and by hell do 6 human player games take a long time.
Competitive:
Worms-series (Worms Reloaded)
Frozen Synapse

Cooperative:
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
Portal 2
Dead Island
Commandos
Saints Row 2

Some titles off the top of my head.
Another vote for Lara Croft and the Guardian of light. Played it with my nephew, him on gamepad, me on mouse and keyboard. The game demands real teamwork to solve the puzzles, as some of your abilities are specifically designed to help your teammate. Lara has a grappling hook which the indian guy can walk as a tightrope and the indian can throw spears Lara can then use as a ladder to reach higher areas. Stuff like that. Plot is forgettable and the gameplay is the usual kill everything that moves from isometric viewpoint and solve puzzles to get from A to B or reach things that'll get you rewards..
