I would buy it if the original games were playable in dosbox. (Don't want to use apple 2 emulator on my linux box..) :\

The DOS versions are bugged (as are the Amiga versions). The Apple 2/gs versions are the pretty much the best versions of the BT games around (both graphically and sound)... well except for BT3 which never got a 2gs port, only apple II.

But I thought I remembered seeing patches for the dos versions that fixed the problems. Hm maybe I'll look into it..

Oh you might be right about that, but the DOS versions look way worse graphically (and worse sound quality too).

Is this how the apple 2/gs looks or is it different compared to the apple 2? (http://www.mobygames.com/game/apple2/tales-of-the-unknown-volume-i-the-bards-tale/screenshots/gameShotId,182140/)

Dos version (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/tales-of-the-unknown-volume-i-the-bards-tale/screenshots/gameShotId,5333/)

I have never played these games only did some research a while back; so all I know is images I find on the internet.
Does anyone remember the The Bard's Tale Construction Set? One of the first of its kind. User content like in The Witcher, level builders and easy modding is widespread today, but then it was quite rare. In fact so rare that they could sell the level builder as a separate software.

No that's just the Apple II, the Apple IIgs was a different computer which much better sound and graphics. The GOG versions of BT1-2 are apple IIgs, but BT3 is just Apple II.

This is what BT1-2 look like in apple IIgs:

Oh okay, thanks for the info. I'll try to pick up a linux version(just makes extracting the files easier for me) when I see it on sale then.
