I have spent most time in World of Warcraft, for me its the best MMORPG

Other remarkable games:
Ufo, Terror from the Deep
Heroes of Might and Magic 2/3
Civilization 3/4

muttly13: I assume you mean video game? I would have to go with the original Civilization or Colonization.

If you mean any game, based more on the ridiculously good times I had playing it with friends and hated enemies more so than the game being great, I would go with Axis and Allies.
Totally agree with the original Axis and Allies if going for "any" game.

I agree. Mass Effect and, by extension, Mass Effect 2 and 95% of Mass Effect 3 (Sorry, that ending is garbage, but that's not a topic for this thread) are the most immersive, entertaining, rewarding adventure games / fictional universe I've ever experienced. I recall moments of those games like I would recall an actual memory. Not many games have made me shed actual tears, but these certainly did.

Runners Up:

Lunar: The Silver Star

Final Fantasy VI

You know, after ranting about ME3 and playing the whole series straight through for the last few weeks, I'd be both eager to agree with you... and at the same time refusing to ever put that series anywhere near the top at all. All because of that botched WTF ending in part 3.

At this point I'm desperate to name something as simple and yet fun as PONG. Screw it, let's retro this sucker. At least Pong didn't take 60 hours of my game play and flush it down the toilet because the designers couldn't figure out anything else to do with the Crucible.
Thief 2.
Best game in my view must have high replay-ability.

i say Heroes 3, because of random maps and mp, also mods.
Yeah, Fallout 2, two hands down.

I can't say I "liked" the ending, but I was okay. The EC made it better. But it was in no way the ending the series deserved. And to be honest, the enjoyment I had by playing the game and having had the journey, is not something any ending can take away. That's at least how I feel :)
I was going to preface this saying it's just opinion and blah blah blah nostalgia tints things and it depends on what you're into, but the truth is there really is an overall best game of all time. It's a game which transcends genres, a game so good that it has yet to be re-released on one of the modern platforms due to the gaming companies knowing it would make all their AAA games obsolete. That game, is Wonderboy III: The Dragon's Trap.

There are many other Wonderboy games. There's even another Wonderboy III, but it's not The Dragon's Trap. The Dragon's Trap is an early example of a light metroidvania, in which you travel the globe defeating dragons in order to absorb their form to access more areas, more dragons, more forms. You can kill a robot for example, which obviously lets you turn into a dragon. Being a dragon lets you breathe fire, allowing you to reach a pig dragon or something which turns you into a mouse, letting you stick to walls. Watch Dogs can only wish it had this much depth, 25 years later.

Wonderboy taught me how to love. When gaming reaches a point where games are seriously considered as possible to be art, Wonderboy will resurface and teach people that not only was it always possible, but that the Mona Lisa has already been created.
Yoshi's island, Halo 2, and Brutal Legend.... but above (or below, geographically speaking) all else: DUNGEON KEEPER.
Elite.
Suikoden series, no other series has brought me in as much as that series. I beat each of the ones I have ( each of the English released ones) at least once a year, because i just get too into them and i never get bored playing through them.
There are many games that I really like but games I absolutely adore are:

dungeon keeper series
mass effect series
witcher series
civilization series
total war series
blade runner
beneath a steel sky
elder scrolls series
KOTOR series
monkey islands
Frontier elite 2 and firstencounters
freelancer
privateer 2 : the darkening
max payne 3

these spring to mind just now I'm sure there are many more I would rank as bring a tear to the eye good which I just cant think of right now (late and drunk :P )

But My favorite game of all time is! ....

Quest for glory 4 shadows of darkness (cue joke muted trumpets)

Quest for glory is probably my favourite game serious of all time, lot of good memories :D

I think that cyberpunk 2077 will smash all previous games, I haven't waited for a games release this eagerly in many years! Imagine it, cyberpunk setting with the neon cityscapes, guaranteed nightclub shoot-out, body modifications and customization. Then you have an improved graphics engine to the witcher 2 and completely open world instead of hub based, and the development experience and techniques (and potential mistakes which can be avoided) of witcher 3 will be applied. I'm so gasping for that game :*(
