That's why for the next five days we'll be giving away 100 games a day via our different channels (the forums, social media, YouTube). The details of each giveaway will be revealed on day to day basis, so make sure to drop by daily and see what are we up to.

So, we heard you like puzzles and trivia? Let's have some more of that, shall we? Today, our giveaway is once again forum-based, but requires some gaming knowledge and puzzle-solving skill. We present, the GOG.com B-Day crossword puzzle!

GOG.com 5th B-Day Crossword Puzzle

As you may have noticed, this isn't your regular crossword puzzle. You'll need not only guess what the correct words are, but also where do they go in the diagram. If you manage to get enough of them right, you'll be able to figure out the secret password. Send an email with the said password with the subject line CROSSWORD to contest@gog.com. Out of all the people who do this, we'll pick 100 users who will be sent a $9.99 gift-code.You have time until tomorrow, that's Friday, October 4, at 2:59PM GMT to send us your answer and enter the giveaway, as at that time we'll be moving to another communications channel with a new set of rules.

EDIT:
Have you participated in one of our 5th birthday contests, but are still waiting for its conclusion? We're a bit overwhelmed by the number of entries, as this is the ongoing biggest series of giveaways in the whole of GOG.com history. Please be patient, well sort it all out, eventually, and everyone who was lucky enough to win something will be notified. Sorry for the delay!

JMich: Not really sure either, this one was guessed from the rest of the letters.
"ice queen wears bikini" comes from a screen on the gamecard where a character called ice queen is qearing a bikini.

Quite simple, actually.

HiPhish: how "ice queen wears bikini" relates to Stonekeep
Take a look at the third screenshot on the Stonekeep gamecard. ;)
Ninja'd!

OK, I admit Anachronox and Stonekeep were possible, but I stand by the rest :P

Miasmata? Really? WTF! Damn GOG and their play on words. =P
Ah, Miasmata. Never would have guessed. Also, I really liked the Selected! one. I had to guess it, but when I did it gave me a good chuckle :-)

I was originally thinking King's Bounty: The Legend, but that didn't fit anywhere, so I saw a slot where stonekeep might fit, and voila! screenshot with said ice queen.
After I solved it the "harder" way and knew what all of games were, I went back and tried an experiment. Here's how you can solve this without knowing anything about the games.

You can find Outcast, Anachronox, and Fallout just by typing the clues + "game" into google.

Since these three words provide you with starting letters for 4 other words, you can then quickly identify Constructor, Carmededdon, Syndicate, and Omikron as the next four games, all within probably five minutes.

At that point, you have 7 out of 12 of the letters of the solution and can make some pretty easy guesses there.
And at that point, you can see that the order of the clues is in standard crossword order, so you know how long the answer is for each clue.

Puddle and Stonekeep are harder to find as you'd have to look through the entire catalog. Defcon then becomes findable with work (assume the O from the solution). Psychonauts is findable at that point.

The hardest one is Miasmata in my opinion and took me the longest. Toward the end, I was missing Psychonauts and Miasmata, and didn't know if the solution was "Shrine of Gold" or "Throne of Gold", and needed that word for the solution. it didn't occur to me that I should have tried for Psychonauts first.

Once you found each game, it was easy to verify it fit the clue by either a google search or looking at the game scorecard for all but Syndicate -- that one required reading through several pages of reviews.

Actually, Stonekeep was easy to find through Google.
I'm actually a little surprised how many people were thrown off by Miasmata - it was one of the few games I was able to legitimately guess through the hint, and I haven't even played it yet.
I got Miasmata by "brute force". I knew there is A on third place and T is 7th so I went thorugh GOG catalogue and checked what games fits there. Only them I went through it's description and screenshots to find what does the clue mean.
Similarly I wasn't able to relate "selected!" to Syndicate, but as I had 4 letters from that word, there was no doubt it is the right answer.
I also ahd problems with Stonekeep but having lot of letters helped.
Easiest were Constructor and Fallout and Puddle was quite hard as well.

To me Psychonauts and Fallout were the easiest ones and Anachronox I found through Google (this one helped a lot find the others because is the only one with 10 letters)

I've actually thought Selected! is for Constructor and mob builds/breaks is for Syndicate :)))
Since I see people post how they got to the solution...

The first one I put in was Anachronox, since I played it and it was obvious.
Next was Fallout, just played a bit of the 2nd at some point, really rubbed me the wrong way (I can hear you screaming "sacrilege!" right about now), but enough to connect it with the bottlecaps.
Then Carmageddon was obvious from the hint, but put it in the wrong place first (an 11-character line starting with C was a more obvious place than an 11-character line with R 3rd).
Then there was DEFCON, where the hint made me remember that old movie, and from there I got to DEFCON and from there to "hey, I think GOG had something like that in catalog" and sure enough there it is.
Next, Puddle, "wait, I seem to remember this advertised for an indie", so look through indies in catalog till I stumbled into it (and realized Carmageddon needed to be moved).
Outcast was on my mind the moment I saw the hint, but wasn't sure so I went with what I had, a 7-letter one starting with O, and looked through those till I noticed Omikron, which had to be the soul one.
Next, start googling the hints on a site search, and right away I get Stonekeep and Psychonauts.
Then I actually, wrongly, put in Syndicate for the mob rules, mob breaks hint, based on an odd mental link with the word itself and working with possibilities for the last word of the password.
That led to G_LD, obvious O there, O__C_S_ and I still have the planet voxel one, all right, so it has to be Outcast (then check on (RIP) Mobygames to make sure it does indeed use voxels).
That left what I thought was the "selected!" one and the cat. And one was an 11-letter one starting with C, and a glance through catalog got me to Constructor. Had no idea what that had to do with anything, but put it in regardless.
Which left the cat, but with the solution obviously being THRONE OF GOLD, sent that in, then looked for that last one out of curiosity. I had an 8-letter one with A 3rd and T 7th. Filter catalog by T, look for single-letter titles of around that size, look among them for a T as 7th, finally find Miasmata and think "oh, well played GOG, everybody with mind in gutter here and you're talking of horns!"
