We're giving away 100 games a day to our users to celebrate our 5th birthday!

For the last 5 years we've been doing our best to bring the best games in history to your home computers. Now, we're celebrating our birthday, and we want you--our users--to have a blast! That's why for the next five days we'll be giving away 100 games a day via our different channels (the forums, social media, YouTube). The details of each giveaway will be revealed on day to day basis, so make sure to drop by daily and see what are we up to.

So, we heard you like puzzles and trivia? Let's have some more of that, shall we? Today, our giveaway is once again forum-based, but requires some gaming knowledge and puzzle-solving skill. We present, the GOG.com B-Day crossword puzzle!

GOG.com 5th B-Day Crossword Puzzle

As you may have noticed, this isn't your regular crossword puzzle. You'll need not only guess what the correct words are, but also where do they go in the diagram. If you manage to get enough of them right, you'll be able to figure out the secret password. Send an email with the said password with the subject line CROSSWORD to contest@gog.com. Out of all the people who do this, we'll pick 100 users who will be sent a $9.99 gift-code.You have time until tomorrow, that's Friday, October 4, at 2:59PM GMT to send us your answer and enter the giveaway, as at that time we'll be moving to another communications channel with a new set of rules.

EDIT:
Have you participated in one of our 5th birthday contests, but are still waiting for its conclusion? We're a bit overwhelmed by the number of entries, as this is the ongoing biggest series of giveaways in the whole of GOG.com history. Please be patient, well sort it all out, eventually, and everyone who was lucky enough to win something will be notified. Sorry for the delay!

I am having the worst time with this.
Was confused with 2 games but I guess I found the right password. *fingers crossed*

SangHee: Impossible to finish if you don't know the games already. I knew only 3 and have nothing to hold onto to find out what the rest of them are.

jacobmarner: Not true. I had played only 3 of them, but Wikipedia, YouTube, fiddling with letters, adding all the GOG games from the catalog to an Excel sheet and sorting them in various ways, all added up so I could answer all the questions.

So don't give up to quickly.
Sounds like a lot of work, but maybe not as much as the purely brute force method of trying every possible combination. I mean there are only 624 games (or collections) in the catalog and only 12 blanks so you only have to go through about 3.485e+33 combinations. Just keep at it right?
That was fun.. Got all of 'em. Can I haz a prezzy?
Selected! - First clue that i guess after one second :)
Happy birthday, GOG!!! Don't have time for the puzzle though. :)
I know the answers, but they just don't fit in those squares.
Done.

Thanks for the giveaway GOG.
Some were pretty hard! Thanks for the chance, Gog.
That was pretty fun! I found this crossword easier than it looked at first glance. I was able to quickly figure out 3 titles from memory alone based only on the hints, and deduced the correct password immediately afterwards. The hard part was trying to confirm my guess by bruteforcing which titles would fit in the crossword and researching said titles to make sure they matched the hints.
I like the random draw instead of first xx responses! I still have a chance to win.
Sheesh, that one was tough, but I think I was able to get it figured out. I hope you guys post the key after this is over, I'm still not completely sure about some of the games I picked!
I only knew -one- instantly from the clues, but it wasn't too bad to work out the others. Some of the clues only made sense after I worked out what the title was, and a few of them I still have no idea how the clues relate to the game.

It was a lot of fun though, thanks.

cannard: Sent, wasn't as difficult as I had originally feared. I wonder what significance the password holds...

I have to say that in some instances that process of elimination had to guide me to certain answers as a few of the hints were too vague to be of use ("selected!" I'm looking at you... I think I know what the connection to its game answer is but I would disagree that that... ahem, is the correct word used for the game...)
If you didn't play the game you'll have a tough time, but if you did there's no way you won't see why "selected" absolutely works as a clue.

Picchia: I know the answers, but they just don't fit in those squares.
You should use a smaller font. :)

Smartass response aside, you should start by completely ignoring any game with less than 6 or more than 11 letters in its title, except when the game's title can be recognized by a shortened version that's still within 6-11 letters.

Example: "Painkiller Black Edition" doesn't fit but the answer could be just "Painkiller".

Again, very difficult for me. Although I do appreciate the random draw over first come, first served!
