I may be TOTALLY out of line for mentioning this and I apologize if it has been brought up before, but I was looking at all the cool bonus stuff you get when you buy games (manuals, avatars, pulp-fiction) and it occured to me that it would be nice, if ever possible, to offer up one of the better known stratgey guides for it. I realize any idiot can find a good walkthrough on google iniside of five seconds but I always appreciated the full color pictures in some of the nicer guides. I'm guessing Prima may be a real pain about helping anyone out with this, they enjoy charging more for one of their guides than the games cost. Still, I thought I'd mention it. In the past companies like SSN (? the Moon Project games) came with Prima guides courtesy of the packagers who realized sane men will not fork over $30 bucks for a guide for a 12 year old game. Or would we? :)
Some games do come with strategy guides as a bonus, like Bioforge, The Witcher 1-2, and Beyond Divinity IIRC. But it'd be nice to have more where possible.

I didn't notice the Beyond Divinity one, thanks. God knows I needed a guide for the 1st one of those. The Dark Forest was too damn big!
Given how even the digital versions of guides sell for almost the same price as the game, it might be a hard sell. Most of them are made by third parties, so even if companies like Brady Games were willing to let really old ones go dirt cheap on GOG, I highly doubt you'll see them on here for free. There's just no incentive for them to do that.

rpggamer just messaged me this and asked me to post it. He seems to be having technical issues. I hope this is what he wanted me to post!

Yeah, I agree with you there. Might be nice if GOG were able to work something out with some of the guide publishers though to make their guides available here at a decent price ,for those who might like to pick them up. I personally try to stay away from walkthroughs unless I am really stumped at some point in a game (they can really spoil the game if you follow them step by step obviously), but on the other hand, I often like to be able to see charts/info for things like upgrades & requirements when I play, to help make choices I will be happy with. How about it GOG?

Not to mention that in the days of old, strategy guides often had crucial lore information and were just fun to read. Tie Fighter, eg.

As does Ultima'a 3-8, Savage Empire, Martian Dreams, Underworld 1+2 and I believe Wing Commander 3 and 4. But in those cases Origin themselves produced the guides so it was easy for EA to allow them to be included with the games sadly this is not the case with alot of other guides which are made by other companies such as Prima so they would need them to agree to allow their guides to be added for free as a bonus, which I really don't see them being too big on.
If GOG ever gets Conquest Frontier Wars (knock on wood) they are going to need to include the little pocket "ship guide" the game originally came with. Some of the vessels in it were so strange looking and I'd find myself sending out entire squadrons to blast what turned out to be nothing more than barges.

Yesss...even the the nice old (physical) game's manuals had LOTS of good reading. Miss pulling them out of the box and reading them gleefully while thumbing through the pages.... Sigh...

The problem is that the rights for most guides are with the writers of them and not the games publisher.

I know the soundtrack is included, not sure about the pocket book though.

Party On!
I remember buying the guidebook for The Starship Titanic years ago mainly because it contained quite a lot of interesting 'making of' material besides the actual guide.
TR 4 (Last Revelation) was my first guide. The TR series are notorious for getting helplessly lost but that wasn't what forced me to fork over money for the guide. How was I supposed to know you couldn't kill those beetles!? A T-Rex, no problem, but put Lara up against a scarab and she's worm food!
