Creeper World 3 is finally finished and released.

Creeper World games are some of the more original tower defense games, by having the enemy as a liquid and you need to hold it back to survive.

Creeper World 1 is one of my favorite games, and Creeper World 3 is back to the top down view it had, and not the side view Creeper World 2 used (it did not work that well, in my opinion)

You can try a demo here: http://knucklecracker.com/common/demo.php
And buy the game for $15 here: http://knucklecracker.com/common/buy.php
A little bump... Not much interest for this, which is a shame as it is a very unique and original game.

Creeper World 3 was released a couple of days ago, and it is not only back on form (I did not like the change of perspective in CW 2) - but it is a massive improvement from CW 1. Knuckle Cracker have gone back to the style of CW 1, and incorporated many of the mechanics from CW2.

Creeper World is a different type of tower defense game, where the enemy is a liquid, which is constantly filling up the maps through emitters. The task is usually to close down the emitters on each map, but there are other narrative objectives on certain maps. While it is classified as a TD it borrows and plays a lot like a RTS, there are no waves of enemies to defeat, and the core game play is based on managing resources and using the right units for the right tasks.

The major differences from CW 1 (we are ignoring CW 2 for now, as it's direction is very different) is larger maps, more types of buildings and a graphical overhaul. I have now played this for 6 hours straight, and it is moving up to one of my GOTY 2013. It is a shame it will not get as much recognition it deserves (though I realise it is probably quite a niche title).

The Creeper World Trilogy is now on sale on Shiny Loot for -50%.

This means that you can get all 3 games for just $12.50, whilst buying Creeper World 3 by itself is $14.99.

That is a tremendous value, go buy!

I actually really like the change in perspective in 2, but that's not to say I'm unhappy about the return to top down. How does this compare to either of the originals?

p.s. Is the DRM still pretty light? It was an offline key for the first two so I could just back the key up in a text file with the installer.

Re. DRM it is still the same one-time key system.

Creeper World 3 is basically taking CW2, and turning it back to the same perspective as CW1. There is several new additions, most noteworthy you can have up to 3 headquarters, and airlift energy and anti-creeper between them. Anti-creeper from CW2 is back, and it requires mining AC to work, instead of energy.

The creeper flow a little different this time, more like syrup than water, so it kind of sticks a little bit more, but it is just as advantageous the gain the high ground. Especially since you can use it to create flows of anti-creeper downwards.

Upgrading requires building a forge, and linking up totems. The totems makes energy the forge needs to make the upgrades, and it work better than CW1's single upgrades. It is more tactical.

The story mode is still a little bit on the short side, but it is much more varied than before. each map is very different and works different, introducing new elements. the maps can be a lot bigger this time, and they can even be broken up in 'islands' where you need you need to use the new air-support mechanisms.

edit - and while the story mode is still a little short, there is other modes (alpha sector, prospectors zone) with literaly thousands of maps, and there is a very powerful level editor.

Bottom line - CW3 takes the best elements from CW1 and CW2 and fuses them together in a top down-view, adding a few new ones. the looks is much better this time, and the maps are better realized.

(And I prefered the top-down view to the side-view, it mad more sense to me...)

That sounds awesome, when I start getting paid for my new job I have to pick this up!

I found the side view of CW2 refreshing after playing loads and loads of CW1 but I'll be happy to return to the top down view with new gameplay elements...
As much as I want all three parts I am still hoping I will be able to add them to my GOG collection soon. :)
Help get CW 3 on steam, vote for it in Greenlight - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=191501079
Pity I have so many games. Sooner or later I'll pick it up, though, don't worry. Creeper Wold (&2) is pretty much the only tower defence game I've enjoyed.
Huh, I only know Creeper World as a series of free flash games. I didn't know they could actually be bought.

The online flash games are only demos. Still good, though, it is how a demo should be done. Same as with Defenders Quest.
I purchased the complete pack when it was on sale on ShinyLoot. I haven't had a chance to play them yet, but I enjoyed the demos of the first two.
No! I missed the release...
I loved Creeper World but, well, after your 3rd playthrough... (the smiley map is a awsome bitch ;)) and Creeperworld 2 wasn't that intriguing. It was ok but hadn't the simplistic charm of the first one. It felt a bit like going crazy with the posibilities rather than beeing thoroughly thought through.
Bottom line i lost sight of it.

Whatever, i have to go after the creeper now. :D
Damn, I missed the sale. Anywhere else I can get this game with a discount?
And in other news - Creeper World 3 now has native Linux support. Version 1.61 is now out.

Edit: Did I mention that in the new update Colonial Space is now working?
